Christy Doran in The Australian reports a rumor that France is angling to take over RWC 2029 (ie the next Women's RWC) at Australia's expense. www.theaustralian.com.au/sport/rugby-... The claim is that some are worried about Australia's ability to stage the competition well.

The article has been reproduced on reddit. www.reddit.com/r/RugbyAustr... It points to a small audience in Australia for the Wallaroos match vs the Ferns, and Super Rugby W's failure to grow on previous years, and contrasts this with northern hemisphere growth.

Doran concedes that the chances of the tournament being switched are extremely low. But tbh I think there would be a lot to be said for having France host. I think France is probably the only country that can match (& exceed) RWC 2025 right now, and the only one likely to make a profit.
