Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan @london.gov.uk · 09/05/2025

When it comes to the housing crisis, we clearly face an extraordinary challenge. As Mayor, I'm determined to give it everything we've got—with a radical step-change in our approach. www.lbc.co.uk/politics/uk-...

Why not develop brown field sites in the city first rather than destroying the green belt? Tackle the issue of the number of second homes in London and empty homes

Then what after every green space is built on and you have destroyed the green belt?

Please don't. As someone above said, please turn all the existing empty offices into housing.

We have sufficient properties however they are underutilised. The answer to the crisis is to heavily tax empty and predominently empty second/multiple/investment home ownership. The existing housing stock will then either be fully utilised, or it will raise funds that can fund social housing.

I get why you are doing it but we should be going up rather than out to save the green belt ?

Great! I mean, it’s not like the UK is one of the least biodiverse countries in the world and undergoing a mass extinction of wildlife. And even if it was, it’s not like we fundamentally rely on the natural world for our own survival. Don’t listen to the science, get those diggers moving!

Say what you will about Sadiq but he’s not afraid to make unpopular decisions and get them done. Not saying I agree with this but it is kind of refreshing to have someone who says something then does it.

Please don’t do it. Every last empty office must be used instead.

Start using your "powers" to grab land-banks and brown field sites from those using them as investments and use those first. You've got a Labour Govt you can "embarrass" into doing the right thing to have your back too, so get to it.
