Around here e-bikes are bizarrely not "motor vehicles" by law. There are signs against motor vehicles on paths where some classes of e-bikes are explicitly allowed. There are laws like non-bylaw-speed-limits that bizarrely don't apply if you're on a (e)bike.
It's like it's designed to cause chaos.
