I hate how Autistic burnout is an overwhelming wave of revulsion. No, I don't want to go to work today. It doesn't just feel hard, it feels impossible. No, I don't want to go to school today. You're asking me to lift more than I can carry. But our culture doesn't care about disability so we go on

I hate how the remedy for Autistic Burnout is often retreat into the familiar, rather than rest. Doing something fun in a new place should be diverting & exciting, but during burnout it is toxic & dangerous, & excessive rest feels good but is unhelpful.

I appreciate this post a lot This is a tricky one to navigate as a parent of a non speaking child I go by vibes and feelings to determine if he’s burnt out or not Usually it’s pretty apparent but not always. I feel for him
