we lost protections, we face sex checks. these are actual factual statements, but here's one of the most crusading champions of that happening using her institutional sheep's clothing to pretend that hasn't happened. and what's the argument she uses?

Mary-Ann Stephenson, chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), said criticism of its updated code of practice had made the "real alarm" felt by trans people worse by wrongly suggesting they had lost protections or would face sex checks.

i would go further, this hacksaw progression has been the strategy for awhile - we don't want to do that, we'd never do that, we don't plan on doing that (hacksaw giant leap forward) that didn't happen, we don't want to do that, we'd never do (repeat repeat repeat)

so at literally any time you can find some dumb motherfucker calmly saying "this isn't a big deal and those dastardly trans rights activists are overreacting, aren't they all kind of crazy". i cannot overstate the urgency with which i say: you. must. not. engage. with. this. framing.
