Develop a set of policies to appeal to ordinary Americans. Housing. Bread and butter. Solvency of Social Security and Medicare. Recruit at grassroots. Latter takes years. Ordinary Americans are moderate not colorful. No fringies please. Or continue to lose. Ask Cowboy Carter or Oprie Winfrey.

Even if they don't win, it's great for getting volunteers normally relegated to the sidelines more involved in the process. That can pay off exponentially down the road.
