My partner @garyjkings.bsky.social and I are no longer travelling to GDC or any US in-person conferences for our gamedev work. We'll be turning our eyes on Europe instead. What are the vibes & bizdev like at Gamescom, Reboot Develop, Nordic Game, and Pocket Gamer Connects? Please tell us more! 💜

We boothed our first Gamescom last year with @indiearenabooth.de and it was a fantastic experience! Very strong sense of community and camaraderie. But also very long hours and was exhausting (hense maybe that strong sense of community?). I found there weren't as many outside-of-convention events.

If you manage to get one of the Indie packages, Reboot Develop Blue is very affordable and an amazing conference. Also you really can't beat Dubrovnik!

Gamescom is very focused on arranged meetings. There is a calendar of after-hours events, but there are none "everyone" visits, instead, ppl mingle after the conference day around the country pavillons in the business area. Also, it's a lot because only the first day is strictly a business day
