The implication is simple: drone-saturated, transparent, attritional warfare is the new standard, and Western militaries are behind. This comparison is flawed from the start. NATO is not Russia. It is not Ukraine. It will not fight like either of them.

Ukraine fights an existential war. It adapts because it must. Its doctrine is shaped by immediate survival, constrained resources, and constant pressure.

Russia fights by choice, absorbing enormous costs in pursuit of political objectives. NATO, by contrast, is a collective defense alliance designed primarily for deterrence. Its structure, procurement, and doctrine reflect that mission.
