The infusion therapies merely slow down the decline process, just like the symptomatic AD medication we had before (e.g., donepezil), but they do so at a far greater cost than the GI side-effects from the symptomatic medications. The new infusion therapies risk stroke and brain swelling. 4/n

These serious adverse effects have been smartly rebranded with an innocuous, if not lovely, acronym, called "ARIA." Which stands for Amyloid-related Imaging Abnormality and sometimes comes with a -E or -H suffix. -E = edema (swelling) -H = hemorrhage (stroke). radiopaedia.org/articles/amy... 5/n
