Alexa Doodles @alexadoodles.bsky.social · 18/01/2025This is devastating news… If you don’t know, Nelvana is an animation staple - responsible for Arthur, Rock & Rule, Care Bears, Franklin, Beetlejuice, Babar, Magic School Bus, Little Bear, and so SO much more Canadian animation is in trouble 13520248
J. Ashanti @goddessxebony.bsky.social · 19/01/2025Actually surprised that this is most of my childhood and I'm sad to see that yet another piece of that is possibly ending. From Sesame Street to CartoonNetwork. 😭 000
Jakey Jakers @utterlyjake.bsky.social · 19/01/2025Hurts to read this. Canadian animation pretty much saved me - it was there for me when absolutely nothing else was. Urgh, I'm tired of there being a new damn disappointment every day. T_______T 010
Marc 🍁 @marc55.bsky.social · 19/01/2025As video killed the radio star, so, is everything else being killed by social media, AI, and short attention spans. 000
Sasha @imindanger.bsky.social · 18/01/2025me and my brothers owe a LOT of our childhood to canadian studios like nelvana as they produced so many shows we watched as kids, american ones too like backyardigans and handy manny! at least one show gen Z folks like us watched has their name on it! to see them fall from grace this hard is so grim 020
Martin Z.ombie @pxtl.ca · 19/01/2025Also the crisis in Ontario's education immigration may take out Sheridan College, which is one of the most important animation schools in the world. The one silver lining about Nelvana: Corus also owns the right wing AM talk radio stations. 013
jenncampbell13.bsky.social @jenncampbell13.bsky.social · 18/01/2025Looks like Sesame-Street-itis is spreading to other countries.... That's depressing.... 💔 010
The Reel Jon 🦌🎬🇵🇸🇸🇩🇸🇸🇺🇦 @thereeljon.cryptoanarchy.network · 18/01/2025Man, Nelvana was basically my childhood in the US. So many of my favorite shows ended with that little bear logo. 010
jess m. ☕🍂 @jametc.bsky.social · 18/01/2025Private equity just kills everything good. I'm so tired 170
🇨🇦 Singist 🇨🇦 @singist.bsky.social · 18/01/2025Surprise. Another scandal in animation. But there are some truly excellent small ani companies. Have faith. 000
Alexa Doodles @alexadoodles.bsky.social · 18/01/2025Unless there’s a drastic shift in the right direction, I don’t think Nelvana will be the only major studio to be a victim of corporate greed. This is legitimately terrifying. Im so exhausted 1240
