This was clearly foretold, both in the Project 2025 manifesto, and in Russ Vought's statements. He told us he wanted to traumatize civil service workers. They did that and much more, as you and the article note. Dark times ahead, but I am hopeful there will be a rebuilding.

The ethic of the "I hate government" types - as well as the DOGE morons - is that anyone can do any job. Just grab someone off the street no problem. Sounds like a few bosses I've had in the radio business.

The article covers this, but for emphasis, the cuts disproportionally targeted the most experienced workers. Just imagine this year’s Seahawks or Arsenal going out there down three players.
