Back in the 70's, we were taught that there were 3 distinctly separate parts of the brain - cerebrum, cerebellum, and medulla. And each had separate evolutionary origins.
Now there are only 2 parts and they've been renamed.
Of course back in the 70's, we were also taught that there were 9 planets.
