It seems this showrunner got this on the success of Welcome to Derry. I haven't seen that show, but I know that the gap between Friday the 13th and IT is considerable. I think producers just look at this shit and go "oh, 80s horror franchise. Yup, pretty much the same thing."

It doesn't seem like the easter eggs, connections, or the kills will be what gives this show any saving grace. There certainly isn't much any dramatic strength. It will be entirely in spite of all that. It's gonna be on the new plots, new developments, and changes to Pam and Jason's stories.

You humanized, or tried to humanize, Jason Voorhees - an undead representation of untimely death, conservative rage, or nothing at all. That has the potential to be even more offensive than making the dead disabled boy a braindead killer in the first place. We shall see.
