The more I think about Dirty Bird the more I realize how the lyrics themselves are even layered. So many lines of the song have multiple meanings and Stolas says and feels every one of them with his entire chest. I’m living for it, my opinions and feelings evolve with every passing hour.

Stolas is not trying to hurt Blitzø, his actions aren’t really about him at all, he’s clearly working through some shit. Was that plant ever gonna “win Stolas over”? No. Is Blitzø correct in thinking that if he just does enough sweet gestures he can fix Stolas’ depression? Of course not.

Then, a little animation detail I appreciated is that as he reaches for the jar on the counter he misses it at first because he’s refusing to break eye contact with the plant. He’s so determined to not let it die. He won’t give up on it or the relationship he feels it represents.
