Press release from Janeese Lewis George, page 1. Text: Today marks one year of the occupation of DC by federal forces, which has resulted in injury and trauma for DC residents, countless families separated by ICE, and the killing by federal law enforcement of Julian Bailey and Nolberto Meza, for which there has been no transparency or accountability. DC has the highest rate in the country of children separated from their parents. Federal agents are harassing our youth.

And the National Guard’s presence will cost federal taxpayers more than $1.4 billion dollars, which could be spent instead on housing, healthcare, education, and much more. This is on top of the millions DC is losing from the decrease in tourism and the firing of thousands of federal workers. Press release from Janeese Lewis George, page 1. Text: Amidst these attacks, the people of DC have been rising up, speaking out, and organizing to protect their neighbors and city. Thousands of us have marched the streets, and many of us organized school walking buses and mutual aid. We’ve been mounting legal battles and winning.

As we continue the fight to win local autonomy and DC statehood, I will use every tool at my disposal as mayor to demand that these federal troops go home to serve their own communities and not be used for political theater and domestic military occupation.

My neighbor built a functioning 311 app in a matter of hours while it took OUC more than 6 weeks to fix their broken app. Throughout this process, OUC has been more interested in protecting themselves than learning from his app.

Instead, I will strengthen our immigrant protections, work to ensure our immigrant community is not excluded from healthcare and other vital services all DC residents are entitled to, and continue DC's proud legacy as a welcoming city.

Our communities are not disposable. As Mayor, I will do everything in my power to ensure local police and our government agencies focus on serving all our DC community and do not embolden or facilitate the unconscionable deportation agenda being pursued by the current President.

This is a devastating setback for our immigrant neighbors who have built their lives, careers, and communities here in DC, home to over 3,000 TPS holders.

I served as a Commissioner for 2 terms. It was such a joy to meet neighbors, help them solve problems, connect with neighborhood businesses, and serve my community. We won more housing and even an 14th St express bus. If you decide to serve, I hope it'll be as meaningful for you as it was for me.

Armin, thanks for this great tool! Is there a mechanism to share voters' preferences in rounds that didn't happen because somebody crossed 50%? For instance, in the at large race, how would the third place finishers votes extinguished and have been redistributed? How about in the Mayor's race?

The math wouldn't work if the remaining ~2,750 ballots are roughly similar to the already-tabulated Ward 3 votes but if significantly more of the remaining votes are from younger voters or other groups who are strongly pro-JLG, it's more possible, if a longshot.

I haven't had a chance to look at it in detail from a computer, but is there an easy way to see the margin between drops by Ward in a particular race? For instance, how much better were the last 10,000 votes then the first drop for Oye in Ward 5, Elissa in Ward 3, JLG in Ward 7, etc.

There is only one mayoral candidate who is being supported by dark money: @kenyanmcduffie.bsky.social Where did the $650k come from? Was it from Republicans? Well-connected insiders? People who benefited from the Intralot scam? Unfortunately, we'll never know. That's the problem with dark money.

Being elected requires showing up. I have worked alongside neighbors, community leaders, agencies, and organizations to solve problems together. By staying active in our neighborhoods and listening directly to residents, we can build solutions that reflect the needs of each community.

Big ups to DC's Board of Elections for deploying a ballot tracking system that builds confidence through great communication. I dropped my ballot off at my local library dropbox on Sunday and less than 24 hours later got a text that it was accepted. Voting by dropbox is fast, easy, and secure!

Def go vote and watch this super adorable (Pierce!) and hopeful video. If you received your ballot in the mail, I highly suggest filling it out and dropping in a drop box. It'll be much faster and less confusing than doing a computer ballot at the polling place.

Today is the first day of early voting! 1️⃣ The lines will be short 2️⃣ You can vote at any center in any Ward--just choose the most convenient one! 3️⃣ Once you vote and the city updates the lists you'll stop getting texts and reminders from us Join a historic multiracial, multi-class coalition!

I agree with Salah Czapary — a government that works is one that can tackle both the big issues and the small, everyday ones. For me, putting people first means delivering a government that gets things done for Washingtonians in all eight wards, no matter how big or small.

New: @janeese4dc.bsky.social just released an internal poll showing her up by 14 in the mayoral race: her lead stays at 12 even when they run a RCV simulation. This is quite the change from the public poll of the race, but I will say I’ve heard rumors of private polls with similar results.

Jeff Wall argued some horrific cases, defending the Muslim ban, winning a key victory on the path to ending Roe, and removing the Director of the cfpb, a key step in dismantling it. Those supporting KRM chose to be on the same team as Trump's prior top lawyer and Republican mega bundlers.

Ward 7 Dems / WUSA9 debate 🧵 This campaign is about a simple question: Who do you trust to show up and fight for all of us in all 8 wards. My record: Blocked extreme rent increases, banned utility shutoffs after Pepco overcharged us, and put money in the pockets of families by expanding EITC.
