I mean, actual Old World Asatru in actual Scandinavia is very much anti-racist. Highly recommend this account: @nordic-animism.bsky.social I can also speak from personal experience after volunteering at a Viking Museum in Denmark & Sweden 11-10 years ago, and meeting actual Asatru practicioners.

Unsurprisingly, the biggest threat to these languages is Russia's war against Ukraine. Soldiers sent to the meat grinder are disproportionately from ethnic minorities, already facing language use obstacles, and Russification regulations. Colonialism, that is.

Finno-Ugric is just one major branch of the Uralic language tree, there are also the Samoyedic languages (Enets, Nenets, Nganasan) of Siberia, also highly endangered.

Btw, if I may recommend connecting with @bogatatimar.bsky.social, if not acquainted yet, she is a Hungarian in Tartu, very deep into Finno-Ugric studies, only met her once in Hungary, but it was an instant realization that she is cool. (We should convince her to be more active here, not "there".)

Fun fact: it was a Sámi language that sparked the realization of Hungarian being related to, well, Sámi, and Finnish (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J%C3%A1...), and was later pivotal in the science behind the Finno-Ugric language family (see Paul Hunsdorfer and Josef Budenz)
