At Salt Lake City, we met with President Dallin H. Oaks, whom I got to know since 2012, as he is named as the 18th President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I extended our condolences on the loss of President Nelson and congratulated President Oaks on his new calling.

What is happening in Gaza? The famine, the increasing malnutrition rates, the depletion of stores of food, the collective torturing of the population by blocking thousands of food trucks from entering Gaza, the new proposed and terrible idea of a militarized humanitarian hub. Any hope?

Exodus from #Homs, once the heart of the revolution, as Assad’s supporters leave the city in droves to Damascus and Tartous, fleeing the expected take-over by the opposition forces. This is monumental and a sign of things to come.

Why Hama is important? ‎Hama is another game-changer ( after Aleppo) because of the Hama massacre that was committed by Assad the father in February 1982 and led to the slaughtering of at least 40,000 civilians, the disappearance of 17,000 ( assumed dead),

So the best label for the opposition or rebels in Syria is actually the “returnees”, ie: the 15- 20 million people who were displaced by the regime/Russia/Iran/Hizbollah axis, or prevented from returning to their homes because they were afraid from the infamous regime torture industrial complex,

A game-changer of huge symbolic and psychological significance. Even at the peak of opposition advancement in 2012-2015, these areas in northern Hama, that are now controlled by the rebels, were never out of the control of the regime and its militias.

Russia has to stop its brutal tactics in Syria. Killing doctors & patients & targeting hospitals are against its national interests within the Arab & Muslim worlds besides that fact that they’re morally repugnant & constitute war crimes against international humanitarian law.
