Oddly enough, if not for being sick, I’m feeling well enough mentally (and almost there physically) to get back to the running grind. But at some point my immunity luck was going to run out.

My wife and I went for a 3:10 first pitch with the roof open in June in 2023, there were 40,000 people there, coming from South Louisiana that day felt a lot like baseball heaven. And the people, from the fans to the marshals, were all incredibly kind and fun.

It’s also the first time I’ve gotten to really absorb last weekend, something I’m very bad about doing, because I’m unfortunately a grindaholic who can’t sit still unless I’m near exhaustion.

In the late stages of trying to kick an illness I’ve been dealing with this week, so I took my first true sick day in over four years, and hoooooo buddy it feels nice not be in a constant state of “onto the next thing.”

Cannot stress how assy the back end of that race was conditions-wise. Completely in the sun with temps in the mid-70s + high humidity, people were dropping like flies, anyone who finished deserves flowers.
