The only thing that initially let it down for me was the lack of ridiculous guitarwork, but despite the guitarists not being accomplished shredders, what they do fits the vibe perfectly and I began to appreciate it the more it went on.

Seventh album from a band I don't think I've heard of before, but whose previous work I'll definitely be checking out, such is the quality of their rather excellent melodeath. Killer guitars is always a clincher too. Tidy.

I know I bang on about black metal not being my thing, but there's some of it that's absofuckinglutely glorious, and this is exactly that. Atmospheric, miserable, tortured and darkly melodic. Wonderful stuff.
