It's vaguely framed as "it's time to let yourself rest, Optimus" but it comes across more as "why won't you stay dead you piece of shit"

Zo-no-rhe-so @zonorheso.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

Like the animation is good and it was cool to hear Peter's final performance as Optimus in a theater setting, but the short bizarrely treats (some of) Optimus's noble traits with bitterness and contempt, as though they are flaws to be forcefully corrected.

#Spoilers #Transformers So I saw the '86 Movie anniversary showing, and thus the Optimus Awakening short, and I won't lie... ...it wasn't very good.

After seeing so much about 'Oh Mr Porter!' from @buggleskellytom.bsky.social I sat down and gave it a watch. Really fun film, wasn't disappointed! Sadly I wasn't able to find a version with complete subtitles, so some of the dialogue was lost on me, will have to dig for a better version someday

*Also* it feels like there's some 'poor business practice' commentary to be made here akin to how they decided to release a bunch of G1 designs in RED fresh off the heels of Earthrise

Like, that Senator Shockwave is blatantly based on the siege tetrajet retool, as opposed to being more directly based on his actual comic appearance, and I'm inclined to think that the Miner Megatron here is a similar situation. Was no "primary source" reference material available

I love when they make non-transformable toys of transformable toys from within the last five years. And the new ones don't even appear to be much more posable than the 'old' ones in spite of not being limited by the needs of transformation

Couldn't be further off with that guess lol, the guy who wrote the original books called it "Sodor" because the Diocese of Sodor and Man doesn't actually control the Hebrides ("Sodor" in Norse, meaning "Southern Isles") anymore, so he made up another "Island of Sodor" to fill the gap
