SRC changed their terms of use yesterday, and released a news post with an FAQ. They make it sound like not a big deal. It's a big deal. The Creative Commons licence is gone. They claim ownership over the data now. Thread about what this means, and what we can do about it 🧵

Maybe there is something in IP law that legally stops them from using community embedded videos at will, but the ToS doesn't seem to exclude the possibility. The language in it about what is their "Service" and what is "Content" feels extremely broad.

They seem to give themselves full rights to use your content. From how I read the new ToS, it sounds like they would also own your data, effectively. I feel it's disingenuous to say you still "own something" when they give themselves the right to also use it at will and in perpetuity.

Not only is she lovable for her disposition, she also has a ton of potential on the court. She has been derailed by injuries, missing more than half her rookie year for example. She already has a sweet step back middy, a solid 3 pt shot, and is 3rd in blocks this season.

I do think however that the YMO axis of musicians are less boxed into that J fusion label as a whole. Hosono was doing seminal synth work and writing proto-chiptunes in the late 70s. Insomnia from Solid State Survivor and Mykonos no Hanayome from The Aegean Sea come to my mind.

O yea I am guilty of being a light jazz enjoyer and J fusion isn't the worst of it!! Like a lot of good music, jazz seems to have been driven underground now. Maybe there's a Chart for the music biz. Weather Report fans might like Michel Camilo's "from within" from latin jazz doc Calle 54 (2000).

While I appreciated that leadership told us we were free to believe what we want, I can't help but think that there is some way to establish a stronger culture. There was indeed more feeling of worker solidarity than other places I've worked, but it was less ubiquitous than I would prefer.

I don't disagree but one question that comes to my mind about this is the trend towards a larger Republican minority membership in trade unions in the last 50 years. I've seen this first hand in my time as an electrician in the south, where it's probably particularly visible.

Thank you for sharing these stories. I'm fascinated by the divide between AFL-CIO (who I've worked under) and IWW style unionism. Obviously the AFL-CIO have more power now, but how successful are they really when you look around right now?

This is what happens when the priority becomes making content as quickly as possible, rather than making something worthwhile. You need time to think, and have that breathing room to allow yourself to do the job properly. It's not a "bad habit". It's a sign something has gone fundamentally wrong.

The defender did do a normal box out, though? One would have had to predict that reeves was going to brick it aggressively off the rim and over the paint, and if you reverse boxout you risk a put back dunk. Great aim to put it on the side w/ only 2 players instead of 3!

From my understanding, what is being demonstrated is that 41 tone equal temperament is well equipped to represent many just intonation intervals (there's also practical benefits for being in equal temp) The music at it's core is based off just intonation (using integer ratios for your freq steps)
