- Bertha Expansion Bertha is about to become a solo machine. She depends on +6 Atk Eggmons to execute clears in Legendary Gauntlet at the moment, but this upgrade fixes her self-sufficiency. Soften Up 1 is especially nice to ensure sync crits at +2 Crit, conserving TM: Hit and Heal uses.

- Trainer Lodge Korrina Clunky kit meant to address the tumultuous Fighting Status situation. Paralysis it the best Gauntlet status you could ask for. TL Korrina is a detriment for Towers, but if it's what you got what can you do? Note Dynamic Punch requires X Attack: Precision 2 to be usable.

- Shelly This is a better realized version of Malva. Shelly's kit is packed with nice little things like debuffs, Flood Alert 3 and PMUN stacks. She is a sufficient F2P enabler for Physical Water Floors. I can see her helping Academy Brendan or Clavell through Floor 27.

- Matt Matt sacrifices "amenities" for a focused function which I like. It's worth noting Hoenn holds a monopoly over the Water meta between NC May, Archie and May. Matt doesn't supply WTZ, but his Hoenn Circle and SMUN stacks are welcome in the absence of SS Kris or Summer Akari.

- Tabitha While I cannot think of a specific party composition Tabitha "unlocks," his utility is unique. He is deceptively sturdy and very easy to pilot. Will-O-Wisp offers counterplay for Ground Status floors. He ranks the same as Gym freebies.

- Fall Archie Mmmhfgfghffff. Sorry. EX WTZ is doing significant carrying here. Carmine + SS Ball Guy can't complement Anniversary Florian in Special nullification stages, so he needed a dedicated Physical anchor. However, this kit is lackluster. Where is the Break/Circle/Sync Countdown?

- SSA Lysandre I initially had Lysandre ranked lower, but his 1/5 Floor 40 performance changed my mind. He has a commendable utility package alongside the standard Extend Range B-move, although he can't retain Breaks (no stagger). The fact he's enabled GvG clears is huge for his resume.

- SS Ghetsis I wouldn't necessarily call SS Ghetsis an upgrade for Tower climbing because man's begging for teammates. His biggest drawback is the 10/5 "requirement" for WTZ and raw BP. Ghetsis needs a Physical Arc Sabrina-tier enabler to show what he's made of.

- Addendum [23/23] Hopefully that covers everything. My greatest takeaway is that this is the first anniversary where power creep has "plateaued." This feels like more of the same despite some pairs breaking the "EX WTZ = Field/Multi" rule. A reprieve, if you will.

- Tower Lucky Skills [22/23] There is a new array of Tower Cookies, so this is how I believe they affect the metagame. Nothing huge. For example, SS Lysandre's Cookie is busted but it's not enough to contend with NC May or Arc Misty. Also base Irida got Ice Zone: HP Recovery 1.

- Colress Expansion [21/23] Lackluster. This boost attempts to legitimize Mirror Shot, but even if it was a 3 bar move Colress would simply prefer spamming Thunder Wave to pace in with the sync countdown. Innate Atk buffs mean Colress becomes a consistent LG soloist at level 180.

- Trainer Lodge Urbain [20/23] What if Wulfric mpreg'd Trainer Lodge Ingo. Urbain's defensive consistency is much improved relative to Gym Grusha, but rudimentary kits aren't allowed to have enhancements of any kind. I wouldn't pull Urbain just for the Lodge freebie.

- BP Poipole [19/23] I dare say Poipole has strongest 1/5 kit across all BP pairs. Omnibuffs, status, innate Vigilance and Team Fist Bump 9 provide ample content counterplay, not to mention spread Sp.Def debuffs are rare amongst freebies. Koga would've killed for a partner like this back in the day.

- Brandon [18/23] DeNA had the opportunity to draw from Ice moves for this kit and they settled on Mist... when Brandon's grid has Unbending and Stalwart... His Flinch mode also presents severe gauge issues. Meh Gauntlet pair. I wouldn't spend BP Vouchers to raise Brandon past 1/5.

- BP Jacq [17/23] There is only so much you can do with a kit modeled after Hapu. Jacq's resilient frontline is selfish, so he lacks the partywide sustain required to handle high pressure Gauntlet stages like Moltres. He mostly exists as a F2P Paldean alternative to DC Nemona for Event missions.

- BP Aaron [16/23] People were using base Bugsy and Tech Venomoth to climb the Bug Tower, so Aaron is a welcome upgrade. His kit is fairly sound. Aaron has enough utility (Atk debuffs in particular) to make a name for himself. He is an unironically good response for Dahlia UB.

- BP Kahili [15/23] This is a tier I dust off for abject abominations. BP Kahili is a grim reminder of what old kits used to look like. No niches, shitty Trainer Move, RNG-ladden gameplan. Kahili's kit collapses if enemies don't hand her the buffs she so desperately craves on a silver platter.

- BP Nessa [14/23] Nessa is missing recovery and a lot of buffs. She is a forgettable Gauntlet enabler who plays well with her base pair. DeNA probably felt ashamed the best F2P Rain setters were Winona (a Flying-type) and Tech Gyarados (an Eggmon).

- Saturn [13/23] My sleeper pick of the month. To my memory Saturn is the best Smarty-Pants enabler outside of '96 Red. Saturn's Fighting Tower coverage is outstanding, and he is an excellent Triple Strike anchor. However, the lack of Flinch or field effects limit his prospects.

- Jupiter [12/23] Generic goodstuffs with WTZ extension. Poison-types are surprisingly lacking in this department given how 10/5 Miriam is an endangered species. Jupiter is decent for what she is, but I believe Supports need more sauce in the current metagame.

- Mars [11/23] Mars is comparable to Eve (this is the opposite of a compliment). She has one of the most violent sync moves in the game, so of course she couldn't receive Strike EX. Mars' anti-gimmicks are strong in Gauntlet, but Normal-types aren't struggling with status infliction per se.

- Variety Cyrus [10/23] This ranking might raise some eyebrows. The more I look at this kit the more "oh this is very competent" it gets. Cyrus covers most Triple Strike bases; he is only waiting on a Physical Arc Suit to truly shine. If he had EX WTZ he'd be hyper meta.

- Variety Brendan [5/23] DeNA's response to Anniversary Blue's scanty pool of teammates. Brendan covers a Flying Rebuff (singular, single-target) and WTZ uptime. In isolation Brendan's meager stacks are nothing Variety Lance can't cover. Brendan could be scarier with Gym Winona.

- Variety Leaf [4/23] Gooooooodness gracious the Benga upgrade at last. Leaf is mandatory for Floors 30+ because she patches many holes in Bug Triple Strike (Arc Alder tanking is a common archetype). She offers defensive buffs, status, added pressure and near flawless teamwork with Junbei Florian.

- Anniversary Blue [3/23] Blue takes finesse. Flying-types, fittingly, can't keep up with his kit. He often makes icky teambuilding compromises. His stack game is insufficient, so he depends on external sources (SC Larry, Gym Winona, Variety Brendan, Academy Perrin).

My Craft Zone Blaidd Plushie: This little guy arrived back in June. It's about 15cms tall (sans hat). Tiiiny lad, good for travel photos. There are clear production flaws like adhesive seeping through the embroidery. B tier plush. It's nice for what it is.
