This Californian heartily supports Canada in this trade war caused by our miserable excuse for a president. Doctorow's article suggests opportunities to make both of our countries better. Less enshittified software would make average folks on both sides of the border win! bsky.app/profile/doct...

I was catching up on the news and found this gem of an article, about an animal rescue / boutique brand featuring the wool of gay rams: www.nytimes.com/2025/11/11/s...

Annual reminder about the perils of cranberry sauce. Choose ethically!

Image of a dolphin swimming in a cranberry bog, while a person in waders drags a net in the foreground. Text: please ask for dolphin free cranberries this Thanksgiving. Every year, at least 12,000 cranberry bog dolphins are scooped into nets and canned. Make this year different

Well, this is disgusting. I got an email from Social Security praising the recently passed abomination bill.

After Columbia knuckled under to Trump, I was worried that Harvard would do the same. I wrote Harvard a letter instead of a check this year, encouraging them to resist Trump. It would seem that they read my letter (OK, maybe not just mine). Now I will keep my promise to double my annual donation.

I have been subscribed to the NYT for news. I do not appreciate their sane-washing of the current administration, or their tossing my favorite columnist, Paul Krugman. And now prices are going from 12 to 18/month. Time to find another news source. Suggestions?

I did not send my annual donation to Harvard this year but wrote them a note urging them to stand up against Trump’s intimidation. I’m happy to give them a 10x larger donation next year if they find their spines. I hope they do!

We just had an earthquake on St Patrick’s Day with Dublin as the epicenter. Can’t make this up!
