Another huge thing: after realizing how time wasting it was to have to look up variables and names of stats etc - made a tool to generate updated quick reference. I just run script to make a new .md file for obsidian whenever I need. I'll be looking for more "tools" and such I can make for myself.

A HUGE improvement has doing tests each step and for each new feature and it's been a huge help for understanding everything, finding bugs and making the whole game a lot more robust! This is for the morale system implementation. Much fancier and all working nicely! Doing tests is AMAZING! DO it!

It's taking a long time to get back to a playable prototype but Im MUCH more confident now and the systems are working and building together nicely. I'm so much more organized now and have a great idea of what all I have done, need to do and can do.

CUE: 3rd Do-over, from scratch remaking in GODOT, an actual game making engine. A week in and it's been a lot to learn but it was the right call: UI now "just works", kinda. More importantly though the resource system has helped structure really good object-based work.

I even got some animated combat going, all with CSS and javascript + text and icons! But I knew I had a lot of fundamental changes I wanted to make and battling with CSS to get the game UI to function properly across different monitors was being increasingly frustrating...

After a week or so I had a working prototype with some pretty bad UI/UX so I redid most everything (leaving a mess of redundant code scattered about that took a long time to somewhat clean up).

I started with straight up javascript, CSS and HTML as I wanted to make a browser friendly game and I had zero frame of reference. It wasn't a bad choice but was jumping in the deep end for sure. Still, being able to make things from nothing without even engine support was great learning.

Last night I told #LastEpoch Devs about a bug in offline mode causing echo modifiers to not work at all. They said they'd look into it. This morning I woke up and they had deployed a fix! Amazing and a big deal fix to a bug that would've ruined my empowered monos experience.

They cooked up a solution for map portals and trading/stashing vs dying! Can now leave and return as much as you want, and the (previously portal) death restriction is only for deaths now, not leaving. Combined with the scaling death count based on map mod totals. #PathofExile2

there are issues with both. Such as if they add a higher level mod (been done in the past) then it has to be T0 (and what after that) - or you have to shuffle the whole lot. And the current system matches how map/waystone tiers go up as you go and start at 1.

It gets very interesting once you factor in the fragments/runes can drop in pre-attached clusters ranging from 1-5 hexes. And any number of large clusters can touch and affect each other with EVERTYHING in the cluster. Also there's mod rarities! Messy, clever, complicated and a tinkerers paradise.

It's basically a mix of Active Skills, Trigger Skills and (impactful) modifiers in a rune system on a grid. Touch each other and they affect each other. You can have mulltiple triggers off one skill, multiple skills triggering and mods supporting all.
