Two in one day, Day 5 is Personality so I'm focusing on a character I'm trying to play better in a TTRPG game. If I had a playlist figured out for the pre-game headspace I'd be sharing it here too, unfortunately right now it's just kind of RatM and NIN and whatever takes my fancy in the moment.

Day 5 - Personality
Introduced last year as my New OC, Caleb is my player character for a Vampire: the Masquerade campaign with Kobold, Elking, and our fab Storyteller Kal. We've been playing for a year now and I've thought a lot about how I want to be personifying him in games.
Fundamentally at the core Caleb is two things: Angry, and Caring. In his human life, he was an avid protester and an ethical vegetarian (veganism was starting to get big by the 80s but Caleb never really got a chance to try that one). He avidly studied medicine during his schooling because of a sick family member.
But he was kicked out of home and forced to drop out of school for the dire sin of being caught kissing a boy. He's been kicked to the gutter like a dog, used like a toy and discarded. Even being turned into a Vampire was for someone else's gain.
Frankly, he's pissed the hell off. No one gives a single fuck about anyone else and he cares so so so much about everyone. He just wants to scream and shout and break a bunch of shit, but he knows no one listens to the angry punk breaking noses and windows in the street.

Now to figure out what I need to do to characterise him in play 😎 Currently I'm trying a good playlist to warmup pre-session

Hello its Day 6 so it's time for me to post Day 4 and maybe I'll get closer to catching up. Day 4 is Under-Appreciated, which I take as an opportunity to talk about a character I don't usually mention or build upon. And of course since Day 1 was Dan, its only appropriate that I do Liz here.

Day 4 - Under-appreciated OC
Lizzie is Dan's (ex) Girlfriend, and is a cool gal on her own, but really kind of just gets relegated to the background role. Thus, she's my pick for the Under-Appreciated OC this year. My only art of her is effectively as a prop in Dan's art :(
Liz is a rockabilly girl who owns and runs her own little tattoo studio called Inklipse* in the little woodland town she and Dan moved to after College/Uni/whatever. She may or may not have shot (at) Dan during the early days of The Werewolf Incident.
Technically in the lore of the RP canon, normal humans aren't meant to know about non-humans and the other realms and stuff, but Liz is allowed because she's chill. She gets along really well with Sei (the new bf) and MJ (the friend with benefits), but Dan's been too nervous about introducing the pack. Because The Trauma™

*(it used to be 'New Moon Tattoo' but I replaced the canon because Inklipse was a cooler idea)

Day 3, classically posted on day 4...... Old OC I've been RPing for a very long time (~20 years?) and am infamously a pony of few tricks, so its really the same 3 guys on rotation. This is Nikolai Vasilyev, a completely normal regular guy who grew out of his edgelord years a while back.

Day 3 - Old OC
In the beginning there was forum RP, and on the forum RP there was Nick, and I've already gotten tired of trying to phrase this like that one bible passage nevermind. From Forum RP I moved to livejournal/AIM, where the RP moved from "Generic Anime Guy" character faces to Celebrity "Faceclaims". Nick went into the meatgrinder and became Rainy, who went through many an iteration in my LJ/AIM time. Rainy was, like Nick, a total edgelord douchebag. Well, at least, until he wasn't anymore.
Then I moved to Tumblr RP and Rainy got a break before coming back as Nick again... Well more specifically Nikolai! Which is who this post is about.
Arguably with the lineage Nikolai is much older than Dan (who was framed two days ago as "probably the oldest"), but we won't think about that too hard.
Nikolai is a guy who is past his edgelord days, now just a tired adult trying to do right by the next generation. The gay son of Soviet collapse escapees, his youth was... Tumultuous. Now, after rehab and therapy, Nikolai is... Mostly normal :) and he works with queer youth as a social worker to help prevent anyone going through it the way he did. His side gig is working for a company running Ghost tours in "haunted houses" despite not believing in ghosts at All. (Technically since he exists in the same overall lore as Dezi, etc. ghosts do, in fact, exist)
I actually don't know what else to talk about with this guy... I don't really use him for anything he's just floating around in there. I know he plays acoustic guitar? :3

Day 2 - New OC
Meet Yunuen, my player character for a really cool short-form campaign called The Holloway - which is, in summary, a Game About A Roadtrip. For those unfamiliar its a post-apocalypse setting, there's the safe "within the walls" city and the less safe to outright dangerous "outside the walls". As is the norm.
Yun is an outsider, who had lived his entire life out of the city - and for whom walls bring no comfort to. Living on the outside is rough, and many who do turn to a life of banditry (or worse) to get by. As a confident young man once, Yun too took to banditry as a way to provide for himself and those he knew, becoming quite capable in his escapades. Unfortunately those who are too capable tend to be noticed by the wrong people, and Yunuen was brought to "Justice". So the next few years before the story begins are spend in a jail, walls within walls within walls. Turns out sometimes even this can become a form of comfort - few live to go grey on the outside.

YUNUEN IS a really fun character for me to think about, because he's this hard prickly-exterior man with sharp eyes and a fire in him. He's had it hard his whole life and worked hard to do what he can about it. Behind the piercing gaze and sun-hardened skin is a man who hates to see others suffer, who would give his shirt off his own back for a fellow outsider. Incarceration dulled the edge of his metaphorical blade, but never dimmed his fire.
Ultimately, he's a character modelled strongly after my Dad and the stories I've been told about his youth. They're both big men on motorbikes, with a steely exterior as a defense mechanism. My own Dad has probably committed fewer crimes though. Not sure ;3

Day 2! Now that it has actually flicked over to the 3rd here lmao. New OC- This is Yunuen, my player character for a post-apocalyptic roadtrip campaign with some local friends. He's a former raider who's modelled a lot on my Dad - hard exterior, soft interior. Rambling in reply

I've put the actual ramble for Dan in the text here, but as some extra information: Dan is the "Alpha" of an informal 'Werewolf Support Group' pack, who tend to "adopt strays" that crop up from accidental or irresponsible turnings. There are approximately 7 members at this stage.

Day 1 - Fav OC
For the sake of sharing the love we're talking about another favourite OC. Not quite the Golden Child of the OCs but still a fav.
Dan is probably my oldest character, originating from a book concept I had in ~2012 (There's a drawing of him on my facebook dated to 2012, so this is my best guess). I'd still like to write the story one day, but its essentially become his Big Elaborate Backstory that may or may not be novellized... We'll see.
The concept hasn't ever changed much at its roots - a guy obsessed with being a Werewolf ends up getting exactly what he wants and has to deal with the less than ideal consequences of this. Over time the specifics of the character have shifted, adding like.. an allegory and stuff, rather than just being "yeah werewolves are cool".

In Summary:
Danni was a butch Lesbian *obsessed* with the idea of Werewolves, though reluctantly having accepted that *Werewolves Aren't Real* and moving on with life, moving in with girlfriend Lizzie and generally leading a normal, happy life post-College. Being that they're both Queer and well connected, despite living semi-Rural, they're familiar with LGBTQIA* concepts in general. Unfortunately with the nature of growing up AFAB, neither has a great deal of confidence in men, so Danni refuses to entertain any *Transgender thoughts* of *being a man* - that'd mean being the very thing that caused them so much pain.
Well, the plot doesn't care abt feelings and poor Dan(ni) starts to change- increased appetite, muscle gain, hair growth...
...And then (s)he goes missing :3
Jump cut post-"novel", he's a Werewolf and fully transitioned, happier for it. Still loves Liz, but plot contrivances and trauma dictate they were better off apart. I won't know any of the specific details until I one day actually write the "book" this is all supposed to be (it isn't happening, lets be real)

Dan gets used in RP with my bud Vos mostly now and he's safe and happy with his 'pack' (support group) :3

Day 1 - Fav OC Previous years I've used my Primary Blorbo Dezi as the "Fav OC" slot, but since this is year 3 of posting OC ramblings in group chats I figured everyone knows Dez well enough by now. So this, instead, is another fav - Dan Ibarra, eternally suffering Werewolf, all around Nice Guy(cont)

OC-Tober Day 2 - Old OC Back before I was willing to accept that I might be a furry, and hadn't clued in on my gender yet, I had a neon green cheetah fursona named Jana. Her backstory and art (long gone) were super edgy, but in 2023 she got a little redesign as a treat. :3
