Any thoughts on switching from windows to Fedora? The only loss I'm seeing are a few old games on steam and fortnite. (I debated arch but some of my daily use programs would just not play nicely with it)

I've found some pentester courses suggest GreenShot for screenshots. However, CVE-2023-34634 highlights a CVSS 7.8 security vulnerability in GreenShot. Why are alternatives like the free XShare or the paid SnagIt not recommended? I'm curious about the rationale behind this continued recommendation.

Gotchya, so something behind an up to date and secyred firewall and router should be good?

My dad used to say What's an x in math? An unknown. What's a spurt? A drip under pressure. >.> I've found in my many different careers and fields the self proclaimed experts often fit that description.

Glad to see you here. Left Twitter a long time ago after the cute celebrity meme days dried up. I'm hoping some more security feeds move over here soon! Thanks for all your work and content. Also, with the Tiktok move, will you be switching to a new platform with your content?

@tracketpacer.bsky.social Hey! Do you have any thoughts on 2nd hand, EOL network devices (Cisco 3560, Juniper non-updatable) for home labs? Worried about internet security risks but can't afford the service contracts/new equipment.

So is that pronounced "Ex-Ex" or more snake like, "ex-thhh"?

Since I began working in InfoSec, I found the ability to research and present your findings extremely important. Now when people ask me for advice, I don't suggest technologies. Instead, I say, "Learn how to research and use it effectively." - Just something I noticed between old and new messages.

Oh perfect, I can save a bit of money. Wasn't in my plans to buy it right away but knowing it isn't required is always nice. Thanks again for all your insights!

Perfect, I have a couple acrylics coming in to help with the original seeing to understand concept. Just wanted to ensure I didn't go and grab myself only hard ones next and get discouraged. Do you suggest a vice lock for the locks or is in hand enough?

Perfect, I wasn't sure if I should get them with the key as I saw it normally costs more to get with key but that makes sense. I have a couple lots with my eyes on them but a lot are 'variety' locks and I'm worried about taking on hard locks and losing steam because I'm not ready for it yet. Ha.

Thanks, I'll look into that. I hadn't even thought of luggage locks! I appreciate that!

I finally picked up a set of lock picks as I've always been interested in trying out the physical side of information security. Any suggestions on good starter locks (not acrylics, I have those already) to start out on? (Yes I am aware there is a reddit, however I try to avoid reddit.)

I wish more of the independent bookstores had sites that showed some of the books they sell. It's hard to find time to go to them so having a place that at least has an inventory online so I can go in knowing what I'm going to purchase would be awesome.

All I saw for a moment was siren head and I was like "A bit late for Halloween." But those are awesome soviet-era high-powered listening devices. I love em, gotta get me a pair. I wonder if they keep the ears warm in the winter o.o
