There are currently 10 mobile cranes in operation on the waterfront in front of Irving Shipyard. One of them is absolutely ginormous & another one is on a barge. The syncrolift under construction is really taking shape now.

If I’m driving my car & stop at a crosswalk for someone with a bike who wants to cross, I’d prefer them to bike across because it’s a lot quicker. Yah yah, obviously only if it’s safe & no peds are around. But if all the cars are stopped, who gives a fuck if the person slowly pedals across the road.

Canada doesn’t really need high speed rail. What Canada needs are many local railways crisscrossing provinces that are useful & affordable for regular people. Nova Scotia needs a Sydney to Yarmouth train, not high speed rail in another province where a fair number of residents want to leave Canada.

Looks like DND is going to restore security (commissionaires) at the CFB Stadacona gates in Halifax. Makes sense b/c its a military base but cutting through Stad was a great shortcut on my commute to Dartmouth. But i was always embarrassed for the CAF for not guarding the front door so it's cool.

Another morning where EVERY side street on the Dartmouth side of the McD bridge is JAMMED with cars trying to get to the peninsula. Its wild that people put up with it since the federal & provincial governments are causing a lot of it for no reason.

Cool. The wind on the bridge seemed like it really slowed me down but i still got home in under 13 minutes and averaged just over 24km/hr. If i drove my car today then I'd probably still be sitting in traffic on Almon street. They should really consider banning left hand turns on Almon street.

Passed a cyclist on the McD bridge bike lane this morning who was wearing shorts & t-shirt. Turned out to be a co-worker who said he was very cold. Of course he was, it was 7 degrees & he was dressed for a beach. Lol. I don't understand why people don't look at the temperature before they go out.

Its the cycle of life. It was bought by a newly retired couple w/ adult children & grandchildren. My family had our years there making memories & now it's another family's turn. That's a happy thing. But change can be hard & especially leaving the spot where my dad's ashes were spread in the ocean.

The mayor of Halifax is under police investigation (for fraud?) but yet we’re still letting him be involved with the Halifax Forum redevelopment. Shouldn’t he step aside from destroying our city until the police determine if he’s a criminal or not?

Well it’s finally gone from the family. It was my Dad’s dream spot & he loved sitting by the water. Unfortunately we got to enjoy it longer than he did. It’s hard to walk away from this property because it feels like he’s part of it & his ashes were spread from a boat offshore. Life goes on I guess.

Andy Filmore is misleading Haligonians about the Halifax Forum. He only talks about 2 ice surfaces & refuses to acknowledge that it’s mainly a community centre. The rush to fill every inch of peninsula land with generic apartment buildings & no community space is a slap in the face for residents.

We had 4 students working with us this past spring/summer. Two graduated & we hired them both. That's 6 students we've hired so far this year. You can see the excitement in their eyes at getting a very cool permanent full-time job right out of school.

Yah we had the local fire & police department numbers on our fridge. These days it seems like there's an obsession with ALWAYS being able to immediately contact someone for help & people freak when they can't. Our society won't help anyone long term but we'll save you in the moment.
