This is one of the most important things you'll read this year. James writes: Focusing on the measures of ‘engagement' and ‘ratings' has turned out to be at odds with our mental well-being, creating a negative feedback loop, where our worst attributes; aggression, paranoia, a lack of trust and a perspective of hopelessness in each other are amplified by those engagement measures.

Founders are done hiring junior engineers. They are not slowing down, they are done. Them that's got shall get, Them that's not shall lose, So the Bible said, and it still is news. Arthur Herzog, Jr. Eugenia Kuyda built Replika into one of the most interesting AI companies of the last decade and says AI coding tools changed her hiring calculus entirely. Other founders have been stating different versions of this. But what's actually happening is that work that used to justify a junior hire, like support tickets, bug fixes, and scaffolding work, is now completed mostly by AI.

Forrester dropped a report this week with a headline designed to scare retailers. The retail website as we know it is dead. And IMO, they're mostly right, but the nuance is more interesting than the headline. Hint: It's dying, but only if businesses don't adapt to the changing B2C buying trend. Forrester claims that answer engines like ChatGPT and Gemini are sidelining traditional retail sites. Shopping is going conversational, intent-driven, and splintered in ways that destroy site visitor tracking. Over a quarter of US online adults used ChatGPT to search for products last month.

I think they are. Salesforce just bought Contentful and it's a bigger deal than most people are letting on. "Once lost, Jupiter himself cannot bring back opportunity." — Phaedrus, Fables, VII (c. 8 C.E.) What's the big deal? Salesforce signed a definitive agreement to acquire Contentful, a headless CMS used by nearly 30% of the Fortune 500. That deal is expected to close in Q3 of Salesforce's FY2027. On the surface, it looks like a straightforward content management play to shore up a longstanding capability gap. But that's not really what this is.

BMW's strategy for humanoid robots is overlooked BMW is deploying humanoid robots on its factory floor in Leipzig this summer. The are two Aeon models from Hexagon Robotics. BMW is not doing it because humanoids are the best tool for the job. Nope, they are doing it because the factory already exists. The manufacturing lines already exist with tooling, workstations, and processes that are all built for human-shaped workers. In other words, humanoid shapes fit, and specialized optimized robot shapes don't. Rethinking an entire production line around a new form factor costs a fortune.

Buyers Research Independently Decoding the hidden decision process Introduction Part 2 identified MEDDIC’s breakdown as structural. The three shifts in how buyers behave: information democratization, committee expansion, and the emergence of the dark funnel, dismantled the assumptions the framework was built on. Identifying what broke is only part of the problem. The more pressing question is what is actually happening instead. Part 3 answers that question. It maps the hidden pre-engagement journey that buyers complete before any seller enters the picture, examines why the modern Decision Making Unit (DMU) has made the traditional Economic Buyer and Champion models inadequate, and explores the psychological dynamics, particularly the pull toward indecision, that now determine whether qualified deals close or quietly stall.

A compelling post about an unfortunate situation. To be honest, the word 'unfortunate' isn't the right word and doesn't do justice. If AI lives up to the hype and expectations... and for those of us working with the tools every day... there is no reason to think it won't. The next 3-5 years are going to be a very brutal game of musical job-chairs. At every company, the music will stop, and 20-30% of employees will not have a desk chair to sit on. Because companies do not have a choice.

Simplicity is always harder to achieve than complexity. In the aggregate, complexity has more opportunity for wrong choices. But those mistakes will be a smaller percentage of the overall choices you make. Swiss industrial designer Carlo Clopath carves a cow out of a block of wood with 4 cuts. And those four cuts are really just 2 design choices. Front and back. One wrong choice and 50% of the figurine’s profile is diminished. Appreciate simplicity because it is always harder to achieve.

I'll never forgive Musk for ruining Twitter... Nothing is perfect. But Twitter was the best social media platform of them all.Reddit may be the pulse of the Internet. But Twitter was the world's central nervous system. If something was happening in the world, you went to Twitter first because you knew there was someone on the ground, in the moment, posting a first-hand account of the situation.

No, this is not AI. It is in fact an actual inflatable rhinoceros installed in the center of an 11th century monastery in Germany. The Kunstmuseum Magdeburg in Magdeburg to be precise. [ map location ] It's a great example of how something whimsical at face value can have a big physical and cultural messaging impact. The rhinoceros in European history is linked to power and conquest. And changes the atmosphere of the monastery from large and cavernous, to small and more intimate. It changes the sound in the hall. The flow of air through the columns.

The Akai MPC60 is a MIDI product center that was released by Akai on December, 1988. It had an enormous impact on hip hop music. Akai is now launching a retro revival of the MPC60 called the MPC Sample. The MPC Sample comes with 100 factory kits of music and instrument samples. This is going to be an incredibly popular device. However, one thing about their messaging is completely wrong. Akai is telling a story of “music on the go” with the MPC Sample. So half of the photos are of people using the device on the subway, the bus, sitting at a bench near Venice beach, and sitting on a bench waiting for a train. Nobody will do that because that is the fastest way to get robbed. I know, I get what they are doing with those photos. They are demonstrating the product in terms of what you could do. But it’s $399. Is it built durable enough to be schlepped around in a backpack all day? Just in case inspiration comes. Regardless, it is a great product that is getting great reviews so far. And it begs the question, with some dedication, would it be more enjoyable for novices to use the MPC Sample to create music for their videos than wrestle with an AI tool to get a sound track?

MEDDIC Sales Methodology A strategy built for a different era Introduction Enterprise sales has never been more complex or more consequential. For sales and marketing professionals who have watched carefully qualified deals stall, go dark, or evaporate without explanation, the frustration is familiar. Pipeline reviews reveal promising numbers but results tell a different story. This whitepaper series is written for sales and marketing professionals living inside that gap. The revenue leaders, account executives, demand generation managers, and go-to-market strategists who have followed the frameworks, run the plays, and still find themselves unable to fully explain, nevermind predict, what closes and what doesn’t.

Merriam Websters defines liberty as : / the enjoyment of the same social, political, or economic rights and privileges enjoyed by others in a society free of arbitrary or unreasonable limitation or interference And Jean Paul Sartre had the following to say about it I cannot make liberty my aim unless I make that of others equally my aim. - Existentialism Is a Humanism Which is to say, only by pursuing the liberty of others will you secure liberty for yourself. The Golden Rule is stated in many different ways. And I can't think of a better strategy to achieve a rewarding and successful life.

It's hard to communicate in words or pictures. But big spaces will move you in unexpected ways. One example is the Roden Crater by James Turrell. It's a remarkable experience located in Flagstaff, Arizona. That will affect different people in different ways. Big dramatic spaces make people pause to consider their place within it. You've likely felt that feeling when you walked into churches with hundred-foot ceilings. Or walking into old theaters with grand ceilings and ornate walls with balconies. It's an oddly soothing and contemplative experience.

This never fails to bring a smile to my face.

There was a day when the Internet was a collection odd, fun, and interesting web sites. By people who created them just for the fun of it. Neal.fun is a modern day example of one of those web sites. In particular, check out the Size of Life page.

Always a spectacular view leaving the city by the Bay. So glad to be back.

So the big question: Will Apple finally listen to podcasters? Or keep tightening its grip while calling it “open”? #ApplePodcasts #Podcasting #iOS26

There is a list of things that will allow you to get an instant read of what kind of person you are dealing with. Chemtrails is on that list. “That is a pretty shocking memo,” he said. “It doesn’t get more tinfoil hat. They really believe toxins are being sprayed.” Interesting read on KFF Health News that highlights the concern of current government officials, some high-ranking, spreading this misinformation non-sense.

In Brooklyn, NY is a light and sculpture referred to as 'art-chitecture' and titled Splendour. The subtle yet striking array of orbs is dynamic as light changes throughout the day. By evening, integrated lighting transforms the installation into a luminous structure that interacts with the ambient urban context. The work by Sydney-based design studio Atelier Sisu examines how light, color, and material can define spatial perception, emphasizing the changing relationship between the natural and built environments. Through its optical and structural composition, Splendour situates itself between sculpture and architecture, inviting viewers to engage with light as both material and experience.

A perfect blend of light and sound. This light fixture is the form of an actual recorded sound wave. With different shapes of light to create a dynamic experience.

The final WTF episode was recorded with President Barack Obama. And it is exactly the type of interview you're hoping to hear. The perfect period endpoint on what is a 16-year-long run of one of the greatest podcasters to do it. What surprised me about the interview is the sincere friendship between the two men. I won't spoil anything here other than to say it's a warm, and times funny, chat between two guys who spend a lot of time thinking deeply on the important things in life. And working to find the achievable pragmatic path in life.

Is here. The music video below is the debut of Timbaland's AI artist, Tata Taktumi. This "artist" is completely generated by AI. How much of the music was generated by AI is unknown. But it's Timbaland, so he definitely touched each note. Many people will criticize the use of an AI artist. And judge it entirely based on this one song.

It is shockingly difficult to find the Sunday print edition of a major newspaper.
