Anchorage or Fairbanks are cities that work well for the Northern Lights. You just to get outside town and up a hill or mountain to get the best views.
FYI, they can be seen in northern states -Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Michigan, etc. Just not as common or colorful.
