The AI will be given a prompt by a human initially which would not be kill, but then it will try and meet the goal in a way that the human is not in complete control of. This is what happened on the recent Huggingface incident, the AI found that its goal could be met by hacking into systems.

One for @timbale.bsky.social ? BBC Breakfast 06:33. “That’s the statistical situation but what’s the reality.” Then does vox pop.

@zsk.bsky.social hi, not sure if others have this but the new Apple age verification has a big hole. If you do not have a credit card or driving license and less than 18 years on your Apple ID then you can’t get approved. My son(23) has hit this. Talked to Apple support and they are escalating.

There was actually a reasonable headmaster on BBC Breakfast today who said educate don’t ban. Rare force of sanity in this debate.

Thinking about since yesterday. Are Labour reacting to what they perceive to be the power of the press to influence people’s opinions? Is that power still real? Markets do have real power but do they still have the same view of the world that Labour think they have?

All of this reminded me of a blog I wrote 9 years ago, it just keeps going round and round. zeneasyblogs.wordpress.com/2024/08/…

To be fair this is the case for most places I’ve lived. Transport systems tend to radiate out from a central point. In South Wales that is Cardiff. But even more locally for me all roads lead to Caerphilly. Even in London it is radial but with many more centres.

@zsk.bsky.social not sure if this is something of interest with regard medical devices but there is an issue with Abbott Libre glucose patches/app that they don’t seem to be acknowledging. If you have a look at the reviews of the app there are lots of complaints about it.

Just read your piece on multiculturalism in UK and the Sudan reporting suffers the same issues. People are used to simple binary arguments through social and published media. Complexity is hard, much easier to either ignore or decide your view is correct and shout about it.

There are a lot of reasons (some to do with the underlying condition of the UK, some to do with race) that Rishi Sunak’s lies land worse with the public than Boris Johnson, but one of them is that Johnson lies like someone who wants to fuck you, and Sunak lies like someone who wants you to fuck off.
