It's so enfuriating to see people post about the TWO people who got killed by ICE, hammering down how ICE has ruined TWO lives, killed TWO people, broken TWO sets of dreams, SO confident that the thousands of additional lives aren't even worth mentioning (the brown people)

My personal little vibe is that Oviraptorosaur crests are complete chaos, when it comes down to it - they would have different shapes and sizes through an animals life, and from species to species, it would be all sorts of random

US politics is super-inspiring when it comes to dystopian prose scenarios, like how they went right ahead and appointed comically unfitting people for their roles, RFK jr being the best example, wheezing and hacking while talking about wich-doctor remedies it's very bold! Very hardcore!

Not blaming researchers, they're not one making the rules - but 40 dollars to read about a tooth!? Paywalled research information was concieved as a grift, and then legitimized through just sheer multitude, and now it's norm. I always shoot my fist in the air, when I see free science.

Comedians are never all that smart, they are "quick" and "sharp" and all, but are almost always stumped by real life knowledge, they always know "politicians lie" but never what ABOUT they lie. It's mostly just buzzwords.

I just found out some people think "gpt psychosis" refers to the gpt itself having hallucinations? No... it refers to its _users_ developing absolutely sincere hallucinations. A friend of mine believes his GPT has ordained him a wife from heaven, to rival his real wife on earth. It's psychosis.

People saying "This isn't war! This is [specific atrocity]!" make me want to scream. What was WW2 then? Do people seriously believe that there exists noble, wholesome wars without abject horrors? Idunno, surprise me - but most wars in history are hell on earth, complete with massacres of civilians

Wondering if the "skræling" Canadian first nations peoples evicted the vikings from NA because of their intensive logging. They cut Iceland clear, and the NAs didn't even know about that, they could only observe the initially humble guests cut down enormous ammounts of wood;

What's sad about artistic expression, is that you have the right to express yourself in the way that you want, but you can't control how your message is recieved by an audience of millions. It is almost trivial to misinterpret a message in any way, no matter how evident the intention.

Israel calls us “human animals,” never understanding that our bond with animals is the deepest proof of our humanity, writes Hend Salama Abo Helow in an op-ed. Like all of us Palestinians in Gaza, our animals have been displaced, starved, bombed, & terrorized, yet we refuse to abandon each other.

Interesting how efficient we humans can be at wandering long distances with our upright bodies, untill we encounter a steep slope, with rocks and stuff, and suddenly we're faced with mortal peril, where most other animals would just hop onward

I have said before, and will never relent; if you are an informed person, and still use gen AI to promote a pro-humanitarian point, you cannot possibly be sincere. Gen AI destroys humanity, and if you know as much, there are no excuses, you can't use it "even a little" OR "for a good cause"

Yesterday I learned on the radio that Norwegian kids don't really believe in equality, and that they blame feminism. The report then suggested that some observers have made corellations between their attitudes and far right trends on the internet. We're only 10-15 years behind, could be worse.

Artists have always loved to sketch! Sketch of a sparrow from Egypt dated c. 1479–1458 BC. Some 3,500 years ago in Egypt, artists used small flakes of limestone as sketchpads! MMA excavations 1922-23, Deir el-Bahri. 📷 The Met www.metmuseum.org/art/collecti... #FindsFriday #Archaeology
Met Museum photo of an Ancient Egyptian artist’s painting of a swallow on a flake of limestone, dated to the New Kingdom, Dynasty 18, joint reign of Hatshepsut and Thutmose III, c. 1479-1458 BC.

The sparrow stands in profile with head to the right. It is delicately painted with a pinkish body. The outline and details are highlighted in a reddish/brown pigment. It’s legs, eye, and beak are painted black. Limestone flake dimensions H. 6.6 cm x W. 10.6 cm.

This may have been a practice drawing of the sparrow hieroglyph which was used for words meaning ‘small’, ‘poor’, or ‘bad’.

Egyptian artisans who decorated tombs and temples made practice sketches on flakes of limestone which are known by egyptologists as ostraca (singular: ostracon). Sometimes the drawings were used as a template when transferring an image to the wall of a tomb or a temple. Limestone flakes were readily available for this purpose as by-products of the construction of temples and rock-cut tombs. A number of ostraca were recovered at Deir el-Bahri during the 1922-23 MMA excavations.

sad to see how prevalent AI-pictures are on here too, entire communities of "synth art" (block, block, block everyone i see!) but also liberal-minded accounts sharing political "cartoons" made by AI. I don't get it - you get to contribute in destroying humanity, to make fun of Trump?
