"My House of Chthon" from the In Name Only jam. I think they're all from that one, at least. Just played through it; it's pretty cool and a quick playthrough. www.slipseer.com/index.php?re...

weirdly enough, the term predates toon town! i remember people using it before that game came out in everquest. here's a post about it: gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/77... i still see people using it in Guild Wars 2 from time to time

Why do people call their characters "toons"?
I've seen that in games like MMORPGs and the Diablo series, where the player has an "arsenal" of several characters, people refer to their characters as "toons". What is the origin of this term?

Larian uses GenAI? Their CEO criticized Square Enix for their use of it like a month ago. This sucks if true :(

There's an undub mod on github if you look for Project Zero Undub that not only switches to Japanese voices but also adds in English subtitles for the game, if you're interested. I do have nostalgia for the kinda cheesy English but it's there if you want it.

@coestar.live I was watching the VoDs of Silent Hill F and you mentioned interest in playing Fatal Frame, and were considering between the original and remakes. The originals hold up pretty well! The only problem is the first game has no subtitles and the audio balancing can be wacky. (cont)

i wonder about a preset dropdown for the settings like "GZDoom Default" (what the project lead likes) and "Vanilla" (closest to vanilla that GZDoom can do) so you just do a drop down choice to get to vanilla-like settings rather than having to go through a bunch of settings manually

wishlist Virtue's Heaven. I played Mokkograd's previous game GB Rober and it was great, and is massively underappreciated. i really don't want that to happen to them again. repost this if you're cool and like indie games succeeding GB Rober is out and cheap: store.steampowered.com/app/1566050/...

If you could somehow make it so that tiles next to each other generate with each other in mind, that'd be pretty amazing (moss or cracks that connect between tiles properly, over several tiles?)

One useful thing to know about BlueSky is that it's federated and that you can host your own data. If BlueSky main turns to shit, you can jump ship with all your data to another platform that supports federated data. It is a bit power user, but worth knowing regardless. github.com/bluesky-soci...

Thanks for the clarification! I noticed those other jams on the calendar on the IFwiki, but forgot to mention it on here.

Also www.ifwiki.org/Main_Page . I know you were talking about MUDs mainly, but I figured this is pretty related so you might find it interesting.

You'd probably be interested in www.ifarchive.org if you've not already heard of it; a collection and resources on Text Adventures through the years. They even do yearly game jams, apparently.

you can get them if you use their built in tenor / giphy library but you can't upload your own still. =/ it's on the way but they are taking their time on that one, like they did with video, annoyingly

not surprised at all, the CEO of bsky used to work in crypto =/
image contains bluesky ceo's Career section on wikipedia:

In 2015, Graber began working as a software engineer for SkuChain in Mountain View, California.[4] She then worked in a factory in Moses Lake, soldering bitcoin mining equipment.[4]

In 2016, Graber began working as a junior developer for the Zcash cryptocurrency.[4][6][7] In 2019, she founded Happening, Inc., an event planning website.[4][6][7]

Graber was named as the first CEO of Bluesky in August 2021, two years after the project was first announced as a Twitter initiative.[2][6][7][8][9] Despite her name also meaning blue sky, the project Bluesky was not named after her.[4]

it'll probably get changed when there's a big issue with it that has a lot of discourse around it, so enjoy it while it lasts lol

it's not a good thing though, having a date on a post is a way for the public to prove someone has stolen something =/ like imagine someone posts a joke, then someone posts the same joke with an earlier date. people would think the original was stolen
