I actually finished gluing Mon Mothma's brooch the same day I cut it, but didn't get around to posting until now. I think I'll need to back the chain pieces with something thicker so I can more easily slide the figure pieces behind the chain, hmm.

A papercrafted illustration in progress. Mon Mothma from Star Wars Andor in three eras: the beleaguered senator surrounded by an uncaring senate; Mon dancing with an anguished expression at her daughter's wedding bisecting the composition; and Mon as hopeful Rebel leader in front of a star chart. Her golden badge and chain forms a frame along the bottom of the illustration. Still to be added are some background panels up top and her name in a flowy art-nouveau-inspired Aurebesh script, which I might redraw because it's been over a year since I finalized this sketch and I'm not satisfied with that anymore, hmm.

The sketch for the badge, heavily taped-over because I used it to cut out the final, and the glued-together badge flipped over to show how everything fits together.

Mon Mothma's gold badge thingy, rendered in a thick gold paper that haaaated being glued to itself or anything else, honestly if it wasn't so perfect in color and thickness I should never have used it. The paper came from a box of fancy soaps and it has a slightly waxy coating, just terrible stuff to work with.

Cut out Mon Mothma's brooch thing today! I'm getting so close to finishing this monster....

A sketch on tracing paper of Mon Mothma from Star Wars dancing despondently, arms thrown wide. Placed over the sketch is another one of her golden brooch thing. In a round dish to the side are all the pieces of her brooch, cut out of thick paper.

'tis the season of art prompt lists. i made my own list for OC-tober this year! 🎨 have fun with it. feel free to do as much or as little as you want, repeat the same prompts multiple times, combine with other lists, whatever is fun for you! #OC-tober #OC-tober2026 #OCsky

TITLE: OC-Tober Art Prompts
Description: it's OC-tober, the perfect excuse to spend the whole month drawing your
original characters. you can approach these prompts with whatever degree
of seriousness and effort you want. this isn't a legally binding list of obligations,
it's just ideas to get the gears turning!
the list: • finish an unfinished piece (maybe even more than one)
• design a new character, or finish an unfinished design
• rework a character design that needs some polish
• design a movie poster or a magazine cover
• draw a single-page comic or short storyboard
• draw your OCs in an alternate universe
• draw your OCs in another art style
• find a blank art meme/challenge to do
• draw something you find difficult, using your OC
• draw an OC at a different age than you usually do
• redraw a scene from a movie or TV show with OCs
• draw an OC cosplaying one of the characters that
inspired their design
• redraw a childhood drawing of an OC
• draw two OCs interacting who you haven't before
• play with alternate color palettes
Footnote: re-interpret however you want or combine with other lists! the only
rules are have fun, take care of your wrists, and don't use AI.

An exciting pakige arrived today! I've used these plant pot saucers to hold my papercrafts in progress for yeeears because they stack just right and don't get staticky. I realized I needed more... and discovered the company still exists, and makes the same line of saucers! hooray hooray!

A craft table with two stacks of round plates. The new ones on the left are bright blue and red with sharp edges. The old ones on the right are a little faded and scuffed, and a papercrafted fanart of Mon Mothma from star wars dancing with an anguished expression is sitting in the top dish, just baaarely longer in diameter than it.

I'm afraid the only adaptation of the Odyssey for me is the times in elementary school where they took us to the library to sit in a circle while an old lady recounted the story to us. I still remember her miming Odysseus exhaustedly heaving himself up the beach on Phaeacia.

(still on the fence about seeing the new movie but) I mused to my partner about making an Odyssey playlist (mostly because Home At Last by Steely Dan has been stuck in my head) and they immediately suggested Nobody by Mitski and after laughing I was like HUH...i could make that work, is the thing...

Been a long day. Zucchini, widely known as The World's Most Perfect Boy, is unfortunately also A Dickensian Orphan With Every Disorder. He had a pretty bad asthmatic episode today, so we spent our day off taking him to the vet hospital. He's doing ok but has to stay overnight in an oxygen tank. ;0;

Zucchini, a grey and white cat, rolled onto his back with limbs sprawled, giving the camera a contented, almost smug look. A hand reaches from out of frame to poke a finger at the paw slung over his head.

Dancing to the Golden Record at 78 rpm, with apologies to Bill Watterson. Attempting to figure out how to draw Rocky by just kinda scribbling with a brush pen. I had to switch pens midway through the dance sequence, though, so the line quality varies wildly, haha. #projecthailmary

Several drawings of Grace and Rocky from Project Hail Mary, rendered in ink with minimal digital coloring, cheerfully dancing with the same poses as That One Calvin And Hobbes Comic.

gotta say, 35 was a great age to exasperatedly inform people of. just something satisfying about answering "you probably don't know what a vhs tape is" with "i'm THIRTY-FIVE." "i'm thirty-six" doesn't have the same ring to it, but that's how old i am now, happy birthday 2 me

one of my favorite little filmmaking details in Pluribus is how often a character on the phone will occupy one half of the set, leaving the other half of the screen wide open for a split screen effect... that never ever happens. idk why i like it so much, but i notice it every time.

ran out of tumblr and bsky to read and was like well how about facebook, what's the worst I could see? and opened it to a thread of locals arguing about a(n admittedly bland) new city logo, all of them going "how dare they use tax money, watch me do better for free!!! So I actually did finish gluing that day but never got around to posting. It's the saddest woman in the galaxy, Mon Mothma! There's much more to the piece left to make, hence the ragged edges, but it's finally starting to come together!

Two papercrafted illustrations of Mon Mothma from Star Wars/Andor. On the left, she's in her Rebel Leader robes, haloed by the rings of a star map and looking up with hopeful determination. On the right, she's in her Senatorial garb, looking down despondently, haloed by the Imperial symbol and surrounded by oppressive masses of Senate... pods? Boxes? What're we calling them?

A couple days' work cutting all this out, I'm taking a lunch break and then will hopefully return to glue it together. I got a fancy rotating cutting mat to cut the circles but I'm still getting used to it, so it proved ""easiest"" to just use scissors.... :'D

A sketch of Mon Mothma from Andor looking sad, surrounded by a halo of circles that will eventually be a depiction of the Imperial Senate. The sketch is flanked by two red dishes filled with little pieces of cut paper that will eventually be glued together to form the illustration.

Got into #ProjectHailMary, so of course now I gotta figure out how to draw Ryan Gosling I wanna do papercrafts for phm so baddd but this step can't be skipped, haha :'D

Five pencil drawings directly referenced from Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace in Project Hail Mary. One looks up wistfully, another looks down concerned, another is just baffled, another looks confident while clapping gloved hands, and the last leans on the sketched suggestion of a hatch doorway with a dubious look, asking "You're in a ball?"

Three more pencil sketches referenced from Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace in Project Hail Mary. One has a serious, contemplative expression, another smiles jovially, and the last is crying wetly into his hands as only Ryan Gosling can.
