Alternate plan is one defensive structure on one or both points if you can afford it: they have great capture weight.

Btw at game start you should put down several (5-7) monsters to cap your first point, sprint to your expo, spawn the rest of your starting mana on THAT point, and stick around either there or at your home point to cap. You should have both points within like 1.5 minutes.

A landmark release! There’s going to be more game mode/modifier options in the future but as far as the basic mode the game is feature (though not content) complete. It’s fun!

He spammed Checkpoints in a narrow location and I couldn’t quite overwhelm him despite an eco advantage (defenses doing their job!). So I went around the map removing my defend orders and giving flank orders toward my opponent. All my positions crashed down on him and wiped him out. Very satisfying.

Anyone who’s played Virus knows you gotta set up groups and give them defend orders as you crawl across the map to make safe positions. I was doing that, then cornered my opponent, who played Strife.

We’ll be exchanging Battlefield 94’ for a larger map more suited to later game units and defenses, but for Tier 1 it’s nice and frenetic. I don’t think Tier 2 will be terribly far away. But the gap between Tier 2 and 3 will be bigger since it makes for so much more balancing.

It’s genuinely so much fun. Balance is pretty damn good. Managed a solid Hexen vs Cq win, AND a CQ vs Hexen win, so it can be done from both directions! As Virus I got held off by a mass of Strife turrets for quite a while! Siege Faction, indeed. Thanks to ABC for the games!

ONE HOUR REMAINS until Demo 1.1! This is the home stretch! Here’s what you can expect when you load up a 1.1 multiplayer game: the lobby. You can set everything from here, including whether you start with a point capped, or even the scale of the map! All mouse driven (but for chat). It’s great!

TWO HOURS until Demo 1.1! It’s been Postapalooza over here. It really is a big deal for us. Here’s a screenie! The beautiful new HUD, and that dotted line is the Siege Zone around the fireball launcher. You can see a generator within the zone, which will be giving max resources as a result.

3 hours until Demo 1.1! That’s not a lot of time! Last hour I suggested the tutorials, now we can look at the manual. Here’s an example entry. It gets into the nitty-gritty, and goes over every unit and Hero Talent. It’s long, but everything’s there!

Part One:
Gameplay Mechanics
Or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Plague
Capping Points:
Any units or Commanders in a radius around the point begin capping it, or uncapping it
if it is owned by another Commander. Capping goes to the side with the most capture
weight on the point. Different units have different capture weights which influence how
fast a point is capped. Brawlers have more capture weight than other equally as valuable
units. Does this cap weight make my butt look big?
Siege Zones:
Capture Points and Defensive structures give off a visual radius. Generators
outside these radii produce Mana slower. Defensive Structures outside a Capture Point’s
Siege Zone have reduced health. A free-standing Defensive Structure formation is called
an Outpost and will have a combined border among whatever other defenses are nearby.
Damage Type Mechanics:
There are several special damage types that act in specific ways and have different
effects.
Poison:
Poison damage only affects Bio and Bio-Mech units. Bio-Mech units suffer half
poison damage. Poison tics at 2 per second until the effect ends. The game features a
slew of Bio and Bio-Mech units, so this damage type is quite valuable.
Meta Note:
Though there are many Bio and Bio-Mech units, against majority Mech or Nada factions
(Virus, Chex Quest, etc.) Poison units are substantially weaker. Flemoids laugh at your
quaint poisons and plagues.

Acolytes and Spores shoot (and Spores even fly!), so being a humble melee creature, you bet the Ettin is good at its job. Absolutely shreds shit in melee. Probably my favorite unit in the game currently.

5 hours until Demo 1.1! The least-changed Unit so far in dev is the Ettin. It might be a LITTLE strong on small maps, but that should be alleviated once we’ve got the new 1v1 map. Either way it’s tied with Acolytes and Spores for price.

But the game has everything you need to play full rounds. It’s fully playable, and it’s fun! We’ve got a 1v1 and a 2-4 player map. The 1v1 will be replaced by something bigger but it still works. 4 player map is a classic and you’ll def want all 4 players!

We’re now 6 hours out from Demo 1.1. So you may wonder, just what’s IN the demo? Well it’s all the Tier 1 (early game) content. You can Tier up, still, which improves your stats. And at Tier 2 you can upgrade your tier 1 units. This amounts to 2-3 Unit types, a defensive structure, and an ability.

Super excited to get Demo 1.1 out there. It’s really, really cool and we’ve got so much other cool shit down the line. It really feels good once you know the basics. I am willing to say that it rules. It’s compelling, even with little per-faction content. It’s going to be a Big Deal when Tier 2 hits
