Been on a dry spell, but I’d like to thank the editors of Pleiades Magazine or taking “Anubis”, which is poem dear to my heart. ❤️❤️❤️
The cover of Pleiades Magazine. Yellow background and doll Anubis by Zachary Forrest y Salazar

Bring me your dog, so I may pet it. Bushy tail shedder, tongue flapper, li1 face licker asking for a treat. Bring me the light of your life so I can scratch his head (& his ass) —so he knows what a good boy he is. I want to whisper love into his ears & quietly ask to make him mine.

On Kansas country roads, dogs dumped out front of the farmhouse would come find me, appearing like apparitions from dust clouds of cars leaving. Once, & never again, after my mother deserted me on the lawn; a dog appeared over my syncopal body & licked

salt off my face. Dog of my pain, doggerel snout in my eye-doggone it, tail-wagging dog who circled my small body in the grass— whimpering little mongrel, this water spaniel wet with river & ears tangled in cockleburs, resurrected me—like some goddamned god.

Bring me your dog, babe—& I'll worship it!
T1l prostrate myself & praise its holy name.
For a creature so pure, I11 doggedly sacrifice & preach the good news of dog. Any dog, miracle of God, & probably God, the Great Doggo-says: throw the ball. Says: Let us play.

A tweet from Chuck Schumer:

BREAKING: @RepJeffries and l are demanding a meeting with @realDonaldTrump on his decision to shut down the federal government because of the Republican desire to continue to gut the health care of the American people.

As with employment gains, America’s GDP growth is highly imbalanced: An explosion in AI infrastructure spending is playing an outsize part in sustaining our economic expansion. Over the past six months, the artificial intelligence buildout has contributed more to American economic growth than all of consumer spending, according to the Wall Street Journal’s Christopher Mims. Should anything cause America’s tech companies to pull back on data center construction, the US economy could quickly sputter.

A new poem in Pembroke Magazine
Animita

When I stood with you on El Tatio, I thought of my heart like a geothermal field. Some mornings, I wake up cold-cold like the desolate Atacama. When we drove down
Ruta CH-23 towards San Pedro, I saw humble animitas; memorials—built for someone who died, small houses to light a candle for the ánima, or soul, which wanders
earth after death. The desert itself feels like an animita, house of red dust & dry rock; & yet, high in the Andes, a salt lake the most pale colors of blue & green. Wind,
like soplo de viento, pushed through us across Piedras Rojas. I told you of my last-dying grandparent, & how glad I was she died. I never forgave her for whipping
my brother's legs across his hamstrings-with a switch.
When I was the oldest— powerless; sunk deep into myself like Lake Chaxa salt crusts. Tatio in the Kunza language
could mean burnt or oven. No one really knows. Kunza words are dead now, like my grandmother, & my heart still boils years later, as I wonder what I could've done
to save my brother. When I held you on El Tatio, I asked if loving me felt cold like the Atacama. You answered by showing me what grows: altiplano & salt bush-the yareta.

Sometimes, I forget how I hate reading Daring Fireball, and then—inevitably, Gruber reminds me. Shit like this is just gross when America is responsible for a fucking genocide. But sure, let's write about Microsoft like you write about American baseball. daringfireball.net/linked/2025/...
Gruber wrote:

In the midst of all this madness and chaos - much of it already horrific, more of it suggestive of foreboding horrors to come — we need more than ever to savor, to appreciate, what's still good about the world. Microsoft is a great American company. What a remarkable gift of good luck, good health, brilliant strategy, successful execution, steady leadership, and the right circumstances (e.g. Bill Gates's precocious age - 19! - at the company's founding) that the company has had only three CEOs in its half-century history and all three were available to join each other on stage to celebrate this anniversary,
and the company's still-bright future.
What a shitty thing to do it was to try to spoil this.

Only white dudes believe this.
Meta last week said it would dismantle its DEI-focused team and scrap diversity programs in its hiring process. The company's vice president of human resources, Janelle Gale, said in the memo announcing the changes that the term DEI has "become charged" partly because it is "understood by some as a practice that suggests preferential treatment of some groups over others."

Oh so we’re real fucked. Fucking fuck fuck fucked. gizmodo.com/leaked-docum...
A screenshot from a Gizmodo article that’s reads in part: “OpenAI and Microsoft have a secret definition for "AGI," an acronym for artificial general intelligence, or any system that can outperform humans at most tasks. According to leaked documents obtained by The Information, the two companies came to agree in 2023 that AGI will be achieved once OpenAI has developed an Al system that can generate at least $100 billion in profits.
There has long been a debate in the AI community about what AGI really means, or whether computers will ever be good enough to outperform humans at most tasks and wipe out major swaths of the economy.”

“The waters of life are pure, the Tao says, but our river is salted with blown truck tires, nonunion organizers, dead carp floating silver side up, and is pulled by a tide of money, and whatever it nourishes turns to pure shit.” — Philip Levine
A VIEW OF HOME

From Ontario's shore one sees the smoking stacks of breweries, the ore boats beached and fuming, the satanic stove factory where my great-uncle lost faith in serf work, and sold his birthright, his hip boots, his gauntlets of cracked leather, his gold watch.
"Bye! Bye!" he sang from the window of the train, his face aglow with the joy of the adventure.
He was going back to die for good Czar Nicholas. The waters of life are pure, the Tao says, but our river is salted with blown truck tires, nonunion organizers, dead carp floating silver side up, and is pulled by a tide of money, and whatever it nourishes turns to pure shit.

A black and white photo of an empty beach in Caye Caulker. The sun is reflected off the ocean. There are beach chairs. White sand. It’s 87 Fahrenheit. The back porch of La Cubana in Caye Caulker. The photo is framed in palm tree fronds. There is a basketball court and a colorful building in the middle of the picture. A beautiful sunset in Caye Caulker.
