For those of you who used legacy Slime2 widgets (run from a local HTML file), Socks has provided an alternative authentication method that should get them back up and running while my authentication service is down. The instructions are in the GitHub Gist below (click on the link in the embed).

yea there isn't a way to use legacy widgets with the desktop version at the momemt

slime2 legacy used to have a simpler auth method that didn't require an online database to auto refresh the tokens I think the only downside was having to manually update the auth like every day

that'd require a lot of rewriting of Slime2 legacy's core, and manipulating the widget settings would still have to be done in the legacy HTML file and manually saved, since those are incompatible with desktop widget settings. I would rather have legacy widgets converted to desktop widgets (2/2)

in theory a Slime2 legacy widget could be made to register itself as a desktop widget via Slime2's websocket, and then take in those Twitch events rather than taking in Twitch IRC itself, bypassing authentication. (1/2)

Twitch authentication on the fritz cause my web hosting usage to skyrocket, which went way past the allowed usage on the free tier, and so now I'm having to contact support of my web host to fix that

update on Slime2 Twitch has fixed their authentication issue, Slime2 Desktop should connect to Twitch successfully again Slime2's website and Slime2 Legacy authentication are down, because this Twitch auth hiccup completely exploded my Vercel free tier usage, also affecting my personal website

I guess they just have your auth token somehow? which you should be able to invalidate by changing your password real question is if there's something installed that allows them to sniff out whatever auth token you get next would also recommend looking thru any apps you've connected discord to
