Reading the New History of the DC Universe, I’m recalling that @markwaid.bsky.social killed Blue Devil in Underworld Unleashed. And wondering how Mark Waid feels about Blue Devil now. Like maybe does he like Dan Cassidy enough to drop him into a Worlds Finest story?! #AskingForAFriend

Another beautiful 80+-degree day in Michigan and another enjoyable read for #TreehouseComics. Thanks @christosgage.bsky.social @marcusto.bsky.social Rachelle Rosenberg & Travis Lanham! Battleworld # 1 was a fun throwback that had me savoring each page and anticipating each page turn. #Battleworld

A comic book - Battleworld by Christos Gage, Marcus To, Rachelle Rosenberg, and Travis Lanham - on wood decking with autumnal leaves all around. Clearly, a beautiful photo of a lovely day to read comic books in a treehouse.

Anyone else realize this week that the current Imperial series from Marvel files in right in front of Invasion from DC? Might make for an interesting reflective exercise once Imperial wraps.

Haven’t cracked it open yet, but I’m really gonna need to be sold on Space She-Hulk. 1. Jen is a fantastic character who holds her own when supported by a competent creative team. 2. Isn’t Gamora essentially already Space She-Hulk (as depicted in this cover)? Yes, I AM judging a book by its cover.

Every drawing George Pérez ever did should be printed on foil. Stunning. Photo does not do it justice. Also, I would totally read a book starring the characters in the Anti-Monitor’s left fist: Alex Luthor, Captain Marvel, Aquaman, Wally West, Black Lightning, and Earth-2 Wonder Woman.

…um, is Storm wearing a Hawkgirl/woman/man shirt, @lucianovecchio.bsky.social ? Makes sense she’d be a fan. Tagging in @hawkworld.bsky.social for the conversation. 😉 Reminds me of a time I thought I saw Nightcrawler sporting a Blackhawks hat…

40-year-old art from George Pérez is a mesmerizing piece that doubles as a “Where’s Waldo?”-esque exercise for comic fans. @hix.bsky.social & @avantgarve.bsky.social - where’s Robotman? @robkellycreative.bsky.social - where’s Black Manta? (Aquaman was waaaay too easy) #CrisisOnInfiniteEarths

Really enjoying re-reading the facsimile reprints of Crisis on Infinite Earths. Nice little snacks of nostalgia (I own the Absolute & digital) in this format. Paper is wonderfully retro, as is the hand-lettering from John Costanza.

A panel from Crisis on Infinite Earths #9 showcasing the hand-lettering, exemplified in the *. John Costanza, letterer.

My comic book pull list currently includes: Aquaman Challengers of the Unknown Metamorpho Namor …and a Justice League-tangential comic starring Ray Palmer AND Ryan Choi. (Other titles as well, but this handful really strikes me) What a great time to be a comic reader. Can a Hawk-title be far off?

Si Spurrier’s run on the Flash has been a challenge for me. It was fine, but I wasn’t seeing the big picture. That changed with two things: 1. Ramon Pérez’s stunning artwork. 2. Reading the tale in chunks of 2-3 issues. And two bits of dialog are feeling rather rewarding.

“Change the way you look at things - and the things you look at will change.”

“Where some seek meaning, or glory, you require only the knowledge that you can make things better.”
I have never felt more aligned to Wally West than immediately after reading this assessment of him.
