This week's #dataviz book was sent to me by a former MICA classmate and I can't be more excited. Not just for learning more about #inclusivedesign but because it is awesome to have found incredible people thru MICA, WID, and DVS and we're able to share and contribute to each other's journeys.
A boon laying on a wood table titled "Design for All? Inclusive Design Today", and a greeting card sent by my friend with the book.

This is why they're attacking science and education: if you can only win with disinformation, data become a threat.
Tweet from Scott Jennings, saying "um, yes, that's really a problem," with a quoted image saying "The problem with left-leaning media is they're intrinsically more strict with their propaganda to only using verifiable sources so it's really hard to poke holes in their ideology and arguments in comparison to a lot of low quality right-wing content. That makes attacking their points with fact checkers not very effective unless the fact checkers use misinformation tactics as well. In essence, people on the right have to work harder and more creatively to push their agendas as statistics and studies frustratingly aren't usually on our side."

Re #Dataviz Portfolios, early career folks are mostly concerned with making and populating one, but what do non-early-career folks struggle with re: portfolios? Once you have one, what's next? Maintaining and updating? Updating aesthetics? Remaking it to go from personal to business?

I found another one! While back I remade a unique graphic for an open in SciAm that I called the Scatter-Gantt. Never saw a #dataviz with that combo before and I thought it was noteworthy. Just found a Scatter-Dumbbell in @timleong.bsky.social 's Star Wars Super Graphics book!! Love this!
Chart showing years on x axis, logarithmic number of black hole merger detections per year on y, and the operational period start to finish of different LIGO detection periods. A chart showing light/dark alignment on the x axis, the happy-tragic ending spectrum on the y axis, and pairs in Star Wars universe relationships. Padre and Anakin are at the top, with Padme over on the left "light" side and Anakin at the right "dark side" of the chart. They are oriented at the top of the y axis on the tragic side of the spectrum.
