Book 187 📚 for 2026. Solid, yeomanlike work on recent MLS history by The Athletic's senior soccer reporter. Good bits on Messi, w/out it fully becoming about Messi. Good bits on MLS behind closed doors. Has Messi changed the future of American soccer? Available everywhere, including yr #LocalLibrary

An image of the front cover of the new book written The Athletic's senior soccer reporter, Paul Tenorio, entitled The Messi Effect: How The Global Legend Changed The Future Of American Soccer (2026). Basic text, all of it bolded in some way, with light blue coloring for the subtitle text. Here, world soccer legend Lionel Messi is being lifted up by his teammates after Inter Miami won the 2025 MLS Cup.

Obi-Wan Katnobi found the sunbeam. #Cats #CatsOfBluesky

A brownish and black tabby cat with a white chin positions herself, so she is in a sunbeam on a colorful carpet. She is near a dining room table.

I'm now seeing the weird "people I followed before for some reason I'm not following any more" thing that Bluesky does, meh.

It is almost second naptime before doing a few more things. (Cleaned bedroom closet. One of the record shelves is wonky, still have to fix but don't feel like moving a shit ton of said records just yet.)

Given that it would likely involve a licensing fee and the current state of library budgets maybe ask your library in a few years.

I did like the challenge of being given ingredients and having too decide what you make. I prefer challenges when it's based on the baking also versus the decoration and construction.

Liked the audience challenges for #GBBO week 3, especially the idea of the technical.
