I’m so damn proud of this cast: Carlos, Fernando, Lex, Mauro, Nathaly, Rafael, Vico. Thank you for showing up with your whole selves and making this film sing! #Bembé #DisabledFilmmakers #visionaryfellowship

Screenshot of a Variety article excerpt. The article describes the film "Bembé" by Ferrer, which follows a bandless Merengue bandleader navigating the 1980s Latin Music scene in New York. It emphasizes the theme of needing others to succeed. The film, set to shoot in Hancock Park, stars Rafael Castillo, Lex Lumpkin, Vico Ortiz, Nathaly Navarro, Mauro Castillo, Fernando Huc, and Carlos El Grande.

Two behind-the-scenes photos from the set of the film Bembé. The top image shows members of the cast and crew posing together indoors. From left to right: Mauro Castillo in a security guard uniform, Vico Ortiz in a patterned dress shirt, Fernando Huc in a white suit, Rafael Castillo in a blue shirt, writer/director Zayre Ferrer wearing a face mask and green coveralls, Nathaly Navarro holding a script, and Lex Lumpkin holding a trumpet. The bottom image features Carlos El Grande in a silver suit, performing on stage with La Orquesta Bembé—including a bassist, pianist, and percussionist—against a sparkling red curtain. Film equipment is partially visible in the foreground.

Behind the scenes on the set of the short film BEMBÉ. The director, Zayre Ferrer, watches a trumpet player’s, Alex J Sherman, close-up on a monitor under red stage lights. The director is seated wearing a mask, surrounded by cables and equipment, fully focused on the screen.

On the set of the short film BEMBÉ, two people, Zayre Ferrer and Vico Ortiz, smile for the camera. One wears a mask, glasses, and a green jumpsuit, holding a cane. The other sports a colorful patterned shirt and turquoise pants, radiating joy. Crew and equipment are visible in the background.

A quiet moment captured on the set of the short film BEMBÉ, before filming began. Two people, Zayre Ferrer and Yvonne Zima, sit on a red carpeted floor, gathered around a glowing lamp, with a low ceiling overhead. The scene feels warm and intimate, yet is not part of the film itself.
