These feel like they are touching on a less talked about AI topic that game designers will understand very well: People will optimize the fun and excitement out of anything. I think a lot of people have this tendency and AI offers this magical "Do it for me" button that a lot of people can't resist

Turns out Ship of Harkinian's devs have been using AI tools to create that port and others. When asked if there was a version of SoH that didn't contain LLM-assisted code or content one dev replied: "I don't know."

“And that’s the other side of the ‘any AI use’ = ‘slop’ coin,” responded developer Briaguya to a fan upset about the team’s use of AI. “People saw Harbour Master projects being built by passionate developers in a non-slop way, and assumed that meant that none of the devs had talked to ChatGPT about a tough problem or used GitHub Copilot during the free trial time period or experimented with agentic coding harnesses as they became available. The quality of the experience didn’t feel like slop.”

Finally got around to writing my review of Sinking City 2, a survival horror game that I really, really enjoyed. It's also a game that openly talks about the ongoing invasion of Ukraine and how the war has affected the people living in the country and working on Sinking City 2.
