“[the ethics complaint filed against me] verges on being homophobic, as there is already an unhealthy narrative about gay men and students in this country. To then make an ethics complaint alleging I’m bullying or mistreating students is a disgusting way to go about achieving policy goals.”

Watching old episodes of Dolly Parton‘s variety show on YouTube this evening, and for whatever reason YouTube then suggested this as my next watch… 🤦🏻‍♂️😂

Happy first day back to school! A special thank you to the firefighters from NFD Station 29, who always show up to help us cheer on our students as they walk into school for their first day. What a great way to welcome everyone back for a new school year! 🚒

It might not have been a lot of direct sunlight this afternoon, but darn it was a hot and humid day to be knocking doors to elect Democrats. I’m grateful to the man who felt sorry for me and let me come in and sit down at his kitchen counter to cool off for a little bit.

I’m not opposed to a performance audit that has been funded by the budget approved by the Metro Council. I’m disappointed that the Council didn’t give the Board of Education more advanced notice of this desire so we could’ve collaborated and worked to build this into our budget planning.

City of Goodlettsville has an ADU ordinance on its City Commission agenda tonight. Requires minimum lot size of 2 ACRES for ability to apply to BZA for special exception to build an ADU.

I’ve been really confused lately hearing everyone talk about NADC Burger. I am now less confused, as I have learned that it is not Nashville Auto Diesel College burger. I was starting to think people were going to a cafeteria at the college to get a burger. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I put 11,455 miles on my car in one year. Assuming a car got 26 MPG and the TN Gas Tax is 27.4 cents per gallon, I would’ve paid $120 in gas taxes. Since I have an EV, my contribution to the highway trust fund is $200. Dang. It goes to $274 next year.

I haven’t had time to screen grab the video from tonight‘s school board meeting, but I totally recommend going and listening to a parent at Inglewood Elementary speak about the incredible experience that his family has had as immigrants in Nashville Public Schools.

I’m watching the Winter Storm Response Commission meeting and 45 minutes into the meeting they are micromanaging how staff should compile emails and asking if this meeting will be recorded for the public (as they were literally being live streamed). I have such high hopes. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Meanwhile, Gov. Lee is proposing just $20 million STATEWIDE for public school construction grants. For context: it costs far more than $20 million to build ONE elementary school.

There’s so much to be frustrated and stressed about, but I have to admit that I am looking forward to watching Punxsutawney Phil tomorrow. I know I’m weird for this, but Groundhog Day is one of my favorite holidays.

Our community is dealing with the devastation of an unprecedented winter ice storm that has left more than 200,000 people without power & no heat yet this is the crap that our local Fox affiliate that is owned by Sinclair Broadcast is posting online. And y'all wonder why "I don't talk to Sinclair?"

Not sure if this was intentional or not but props to the control room at CBS for making sure no shots of the crowd holding alcohol were included while CeCe Winans sings gospel at a NYE celebration downtown. Impressive.

I had so much fun with Ms. Lee and the students at Amqui! The importance of quality classroom associates and substitute teachers has never been more obvious than experiencing it firsthand. It offered me a better understanding of the dynamics in the classroom.

Board member adds "substitute teacher" to his list of accomplishments

Every day, classroom associates and substitute teachers do their best to ensure that Amqui students receive the highest quality education possible—even in the absence of the regular teacher.
