one of the stupidest comments ive received was on a sumire piece i did a while back and they said that the hands looked like ai and i was like are you fucking stupid, look at my fucking track record before you comment dumbass 😭 like my art readily dates all the way back to 2018 with real progress

whether you want to create fanart because you genuinely love characters or love someone or whatever it is, i promise you that you're an artist as long as you draw something on your own - you dont need ai to be an artist, art has long long long outlived ai.

beginner artists do NOT rob yourself the joy of creating and having fun and don't jump too quickly to wanting to monetize it rather than just having fun (i initially wanted to monetize things way too quickly and it was not healthy) truly the intent behind your art is so much more important

like i worked really, really hard on these pieces! no it's not the most polished, skilled, or whatever but i genuinely loved what i created back then and i posted them on reddit with such genuine excitement and continued to draw more b/c i loved the characters so much and i was having fun

like i genuinely love my beginner art so much and idk why, but yes i originally started drawing in 2018 because i played ddlc and loved it so much that i just wanted to keep drawing my favorite characters like 8 years later i can feel so much overwhelming love and dedication out of my old art

but also for consumers please do not be rude to artists at shows and in their face, this isnt a solely like "PRO-CONSUMER" based argument since i see both sides - it's insanely stressful work and takes more than just skill - there's SO much physical labor, just be nice to the artists too please 😭

i think that something that genuinely helps is just adding a low cost item (which actually ends up being my best sellers anyways which are just my stickers) like many times people do in their best heart want to support artists but just cant spend $20 at every table but they can spend $5 at 4 tables

i think im in a position where im just like, i get where both parties are coming from and i do understand why artists need to charge x amount because i also have to charge a lot for some items but i also think that artists are not being the most understanding of people who are legitimately concerned
