Rolling through Hellraiser Revivals credits to a techno remix of Fuck The Pain Away (feat. Pinhead muttering on) couldn't be more fitting. It was aight. Final boss was a bit exhausting, but I did enjoy the wild story, & the combat too when it came to fighting the Unworthy. Human shootouts less so

Frankly the most frustrating part is the unskippable cutscenes throughout it all. I can basically speedrun the puzzles, but having to sit through the multiple instances of Aiden reflecting on his drug abuse is killing me

My 1st attempt of it all prolly took around 20 minutes, only to then have to do it all again cuz I didn't entirely understand what to do when lady-bite gives me the next box power. Then I failed again cuz I happened to take a wrong turn during the chase sequence leading up to it & got insta-killed 💀

Been playing Hellraiser Revival on Hard mode which removes autosaves. And it's quite honestly been fine to play around... Until I got to this labyrinth sequence with multiple puzzles, chase sequences, unskippable cutscenes, & no bloody save point for almost the entire thing.

Hellraiser Revival is proving to be a lot more Resi Evil than I was expecting. Full blown 'survive against wave of monsters inside shack while bordering up windows' sequence. Which I know is hardly exclusive to RE, but I feel like that part in RE4 is perhaps the most iconic in games of this ilk.

Especially once I unlocked the telekinesis power. Altho after playing Silent Hill Townfall so recently, the lack of a lean mechanic to peak around corners really stood out when you're tryna sleuth around.

almost 3 hours now into Hellraiser Revival & I've enjoyed it thus far! Pretty outlandish first chapter before it transitions into more traditional survival horror settings & design. Enemy AI is kinda bad, but I've found the mix of stealth & combat fun all the same.
