I don’t want kids to think they can just rely on prompts & AI to write code for them. They need to understand the code Which is why I want him to learn and be able to do it for himself. Like I have done for the last 20 years After he gets the basics I will introduce him to Python and also Godot

The world of coding/dev has changed dramatically over the last few years with AI now creating large amounts of code. But having a fundamental knowledge of the codebase it is churning out is paramount. You run the risk of errors, memory leaks and most importantly security issues.

It’s been teaching him basic functions, conditional statements and how to iterate through a basic foreach statement to build a game following tutorials he seems to be enjoying the challenge of understanding it.

Whilst a good starting place he said it was too similar to what he had been doing in school he got bored quickly and wanted to look at actual code. Had a look and found the Apple have a free app for kids to learn Swift which is apples native code base.

I love learning and sharing my knowledge. Recently my eldest told me he wanted to learn how to make computer games. I started him off with Scratch (scratch.mit.edu) which is a visual coder that uses colour blocks that look like puzzle pieces to create functions and conditional statements.

Made some great progress today on our core skeleton template. Everything you'll need in one plugin is the goal. Making everything as slimline as possible without the need for so plugins you need with other template sites. If you're in a band and looking for a website give us a follow!
