Trump didn't gain anything for the United States from his summit with Xi, but at least he came across as weak and unpresidential.

I have a family friend (more my wife's friend) who was recently diagnosed with cancer. She's very MAGA and wants to treat it with Ivermectin. Not being fact adverse, I looked into what the science based medical professionals have to say about it, and I now understand why it's a bad idea.

Everyone is talking about how the Iran peace deal is "over." The truth is, there was never a peace deal to begin with. There was a statement of commitment to achieving a deal. That's not the same thing. The vast majority of Trump's deals are no more than press releases.

Democrats often say that Trump is trying to destroy our democracy. While true, it's not the right framing, imo. We should be saying "Trump is trying to destroy our system of government." It's not just democracy that's at stake. It's our republic, too. Trump is destroying both.

Unless or until the White House explicitly disavows the "Michelle Obama is a man" comments and apologizes to America for the disgrace they perpetrated on it, the statement should be considered an official stance of the Trump administration and every Democrat should portray it as such.

Newt Gingrich came up with a list of words to use against Democrats that was so simple and powerful that even Democrats have allowed it to define them. Democrats need to do something similar in return. Use simple language to define Republicans as anti-American extremists

My wife's church refers to God as "Father Mother God." It's their way of saying that applying the concepts of gender to a supreme being is absurd. I'm a non believer, but I like that. If there is a God, it exists prior to and outside of any human concepts of gender.

The word that comes to my mind is "Desecration." Almost daily, this president desecrates America by shitting on values and institutions that ought to be held up as sacred. I'm at best only a cultural Christian, but Trump portraying himself as Jesus, is an attack on Christianity and America.

It's hard for me to imagine that Trump will be able to find someone as corrupt (and someone so able to support corruption) as Bondi. Yes, I know that the bench of corrupt sycophants is deep, but how about the bench of capable ones? It's good that she's gone, but it won't improve things for Trump.

In the movies, whenever a human wishes for something from a Genii, they try hard to clarify the wish so that it can't possibly be misconstrued. But the Genii always finds a loophole and turns the wish against the wisher. The Trump administration is the Genii and the courts are the humans.

I keep seeing people ask "Is Trump incapable of distinguishing between fact or fiction?" You're close. He doesn't make such distinctions. They're irrelevant to him. They are the same. "Facts" are whatever he wants or needs them to be. He knows they're lies AND he believes them.

I keep seeing posts saying that Trump "genuinely believes" he won an election he clearly lost. Quit saying that. You can't read his mind. You have no idea what he "genuinely believes." But we do know that he lies deliberately all the time, and that he clings tenaciously to those lies.

Lots of justified anger and disgust at Trump's Truth Social post about the deaths of the Reiners. But most of it misses the point. Trump is framing the murders as political violence and justifying it because were in opposed to him. He wants to encourage violence against his opposition.

We're seeing Republican politicians starting to push back against Trump. I've long read that a large percentage of Republican politicians actually hate Trump, and follow him out of fear. It true, a tipping point is coming. He just needs to get weak enough for them to hit back.

People who show up for protests will show up to vote. For people who have never attended a protest before. The movement is personal to them now, and that matters. For those who say the GOP won't allow a free election, understand that we've made it harder for them to carry that out.

Two of the supposed drug smugglers whose boat our military blew up were rescued and now have been returned to their homes. No logic to it at all. Either they were dangerous terrorists or they weren't. The government just showed us that they weren't.

Trump's corrupt pardons aren't merely because he loves corruption, although he does. They're a tool of authoritarian control. Why are so many not seeing this. Pardons for his friends and pretextual prosecutions for his enemies work together to send a mafia like message.

Three cities in Texas each have a higher violent crime rate and murder rate than Chicago. The percentage of Texas' population that is undocumented is almost 50% higher than Illinois. Why isn't ICE ransacking texas? Why no military in Texas? Because it's not about immigration. It's about control!

Brian Kilmeade's sick suggestion to euthanize the homeless is, rightly, being excoriated. His supporters say he was only talking about the mentally ill homeless, and offering them a choice: Institution or death. As if that's less horrific.

Very little shocks me anymore, particularly when it comes from the right. But Brian Kilmeades suggetion that we just murder the homeless really did. It was the casual, throwaway tone of it. As in, "of course we should murder them, who could object?" And it was the fact that nobody did.

I fucking hate it when someone looks me right in the eyes and makes an obvious lie that we all know is a lie. I know it, they know it, and they know I know it, but they go ahead and lie anyway. That's what drives me so insane about Trump. OF COURSE it's his signature!!!!

We can make this simple. Every single person who contributes to Epstein's birthday book should be shunned from all participation in public life. They all knew. It's obvious! But only one of them is the President. And only one is being protected by a cult. He has to go.

Not Really A Cat @youpersuade.bsky.social · 08/09/2025
Trump once again has looked Americans right in the eye and lied. "There is no birthday letter." Obviously there is. And obviously he knew there was. And it won't matter a bit to his hardcore followers. But he's still a fucking liar.

When I moved to Chicago in 1990, the murder rate was twice what it is today. I lived in Uptown, a fairly sketchy neighborhood. Yet, I walked everywhere with no problems. I took the bus and the el with no problems. Today, it's much safer still. The Republicans are full of shit!

Stop calling things Tump is doing "distractions." They aren't distractions, they're manifestations of his authoritarianism. They are all parts of a multi-pronged attack on America. Calling them distractions implies a single issue plan. The plan is Orbanization of America on all levels.

I doubt there are any smoking guns being hidden in the Epstein evidence. I do believe there are a lot of uncomfortable and embarrassing associations between him and powerful men that wouldn't be enough to charge, let alone convict someone. Trump is one of them, but we already knew that.
