I don't know. There sure were a lot of atrocities were committed with comic sans, ms office clip art and "graphic design is my passion" layouts.

I wonder how far DOD could get by a) requiring executives of nat-sec contractors to have security clearance, and b) being very selective about issuing that clearance.

My siblings and I have been trying to sell our late Mom's home in the Denver metro area. Our agent is telling us he thinks this is the worst market since 2008.

Or the hive splits - a surviving new queen leaves and takes a bunch of worker bees with her in a swarm.

As for why - the early days of steam on Linux saw a ton of native ports happen. But Nearly all of them don't work any more because of dependency churn of one kind ir another. Running under wine is much more stable long term.

Frankly, just make sure the windows version works in wine/proton.

This all may be true - but I do think there has been a more fundamental economic shift that underlies the desirability of having kids. The long term opportunity cost of having kids has gone through the roof that no level up front subsidy can overcome. And that isn't something that fixes itself.

Look in 5 years when ai infrastructure is understood to be a competitive, low margin commodity, the NEXT BIG THING™ will be on the horizon and XSpaceNEXT (new name) will be all over that and the valuation will be based on that. So BUY NOW! /s

My dream is that there is a ruling that only allows fair use as a defense for training if the model weights are also open.

Those undecideds are higher then I'd like. I suspect a good chunk of the GOP leaning ones will be no shows. But it is a real source of some angst.

Yeah, the voices that want to waive a magic wand to disenfranchise the magas (and somehow only them) will get stronger. And a new glonzo will be born.

270towin did simple averaging in 2000. Silver's model was considerably more sophisticated.

Yes, they absolutely could be sued for negligence. But how ruinous that would be is fairly limited to real damages + punitive damages at some small multiplier. And with at least 12 figures of realizable value available, that probably doesn't amount to much yet.

Eh, there is a long history of education reforms that work in lab type setting, but simply do not scale to broad public education.

This is why I think people are best off avoiding the z word all together. It is possible to make broad stand against religious nationalism regardless of which religion and which nationality. And that helps guard against antisemitism from creeping in.

The problem is that since the CFAA has a mens rea requirement, as long as they can credibly say "we trained these things for legit whitehat red-teaming work and the testing got out of control", there isn't a lot of space for prosecution. The law needs to be updated.

I suspect this is more about surveillance of the drivers then collection of training data.

They make sense where taxi services make sense and the human drivers themselves can be problematic. I'm thinking of the stories of Uber/Lyft drivers colluding to trigger surge pricing when late evening/night arrivals come in at the airport. A Waymo wouldn't bother doing that.

It is one thing to think there is no such thing as a soul and that human-like intelligence can be recreated by human means. It's a whole 'nuther thing to think souls are real and that humans can make them. And a whole 'nuther step to argue that point with the pope.

This is why I'd like to see more adoption of the term "Slaver's Rebellion" for that war. It makes it abundantly clear who the enemy was.

The vacancy rate in Bend is 10-ish percent. One of my kids was able to move out (with friends) into a place - no co-signer was needed + move-in incentives. A huge sea change from just a couple years ago.
