~Best~ gameboy to own to re live the library of games. If you or anyone you know is handy with a soldering iron, look up the usb C mod, and a screen replacement. At the very least grab a new battery and maybe a rom cartridge (ezflash omega definitive edition)

When I got my first r4 card back in 07-09 I just downloaded a bunch of roms. I had no clue this game would be as engaging as it was. People talk about “hidden gems” all the time and never mention this game series.

Either way, point is, while growing up I knew plenty of people who’s parents wanted a dvd player but didn’t want to pay over 300$ for one, so they got a ps2 because it was the best affordable dvd player on the market. It just so happened to let their children play videogames too.

The software of the ps2 was only half of it, the ps2 came out during the rise of the new video format wars, laser disc had proven to be beautiful but cumbersome, and when we abandoned records and moved to cds (and later mp3s) we were looking to make things smaller.

I’m pretty sure it’s just a ribbon cable with a few soldering points. I had a second donor console so I just used a second screen I had when I ripped mine, but I did disassemble the first screen to make sure.

You can actually replace the cable with some minor disassembly of the top screen. It’s a pain in the ass, but it’s definitely cheaper than a replacement top screen.

That damn black cable underneath the cartridge slot, AND the top display ribbon cable are both the absolute worst. If you haven’t already, look into the ds pico.

Both are very rare but still very worth looking for. Even the commons are worth something bigger than you’d expect. And because on the surface they look like regular revised/4th edition cards they just blend in.

Summer and alt 4th were released around those times, basically the same as revised and 4th edition, but their print runs were so low because there were problems with both. Wotc was trying different printing companies. One has a certain copyright symbol, and the other fluoresces under black light.

Power switches and plugs are usually good first soldering projects, so don’t toss it, just store it. Also I think if you hack it there’s a way to charge via the mini usb at the top if you really don’t wanna deal with that power port.

Handheld legend has replacement batteries, and if you need a soldering iron suggestion, I’d suggest a pinecil. Be sure to get solder and wick. You won’t need flux for this, but if you can find a small amount it wouldn’t hurt.
