Up until now on my work laptop I flipped the about:config setting to use whatever Windows 11 calls the frosted background glass effect, and that was subtle, nice, and matched the OS. I don't know where their plan for that has gone. I'm hoping the Linux variant of this isn't too homogenized…

We will never stop reinventing the Scunthorpe problem…

If you're not wanting to use the open source stack, things are.. broken-ish right now. I'd wait until Steam Machine to Steam Frame streaming is officially supported. Valve is actually actively looking to fix stuff, but there's gonna be some big bumps in the road on the way.

I can definitely get behind being flattened on Friday! Squish that cat-- err, fox. You've got a pretty setup and you're good with posing for the camera too ^.^

Yeah! Casually offering a comfy heavy blanket to a friend at minimal extra effort, or receiving such a weighty cover that tucks you in close… And it's not like you're doing other stuff with your tail when talking/relaxing.

digitalfox @yip.vulpine.engineer · 25/09/2026

As a weighted blanket enthusiast, yes, very much yes

110

digitalfox @yip.vulpine.engineer · 25/09/2026

Agreed. Not one to back down from difficult topics but also good at being supportive ^^

Gotcha! (I still keep mixing up sub/dom, top/bottom) Revised: You're domposting harder than W3C :P

Subposting harder than your local sandwich shop :P

001

digitalfox @yip.vulpine.engineer · 23/09/2026

…I actually haven't read it ^^ Saw one of the film adaptations, a more recent-ish one I think.

Right, different approaches for different situations! Someone tiny might get bigger than you (maybe even with your help), but it doesn't last for long, whoops… (Hi resident nano blue science fox~)

Is propping footpaws up towards the camera in otherwise typical videos the furry equivalent of jangling keys or showing Subway Surfers clips? In this essay, I will…

digitalfox @yip.vulpine.engineer · 19/09/2026

Huzzah! After your remarks Thursday, I'm glad things are intact

010

digitalfox @yip.vulpine.engineer · 19/09/2026

Huzzah! I'm expecting things to be rather interesting by the end of the year, when they've had a few months of Frames being in folks' hands, support for Machine (Linux x86) to Frame streaming, etc…

110

digitalfox @yip.vulpine.engineer · 19/09/2026

Similar, I don't know if I can think of Sumo without also thinking of being small and comfortably perching on a fluffy lap/shoulder/etc. (And hey, maybe modern Proton means less manual resyncs of the livestream.)

011

digitalfox @yip.vulpine.engineer · 19/09/2026

I've felt an unease with some norms for VR leading up to this, and I can only hope (and set up, help test, etc when energy/time permits). This is encouraging. Not only that, we have two massive alternative efforts with their own strengths and weaknesses.

010

digitalfox @yip.vulpine.engineer · 19/09/2026

And you plug that joke very well

Hah, immediately forwarded this to a wah friend Soft shapes!

020

digitalfox @yip.vulpine.engineer · 18/09/2026

Glad to still have more than one way to reach out. Despite hosting myself, the hardest part would have been moderation, but I am entirely cheating that by copying the moderation actions of a friend's server. People are hard. (…no, not like that.)

Until I read the alt-text, I couldn't tell if you were in a corner, or if it was the corner of a big wood-paneled box/etc… Fun optical illusion? What's not an illusion is that antler-fox! If you're quick, they haven't put away the snacks yet…

010

digitalfox @yip.vulpine.engineer · 18/09/2026

Meep, good to know! And when someone just gotta keep their finger on the pulse of the music, being right where you put your fingers to control it makes sense~

digitalfox @yip.vulpine.engineer · 18/09/2026

You say silly little arctic fox, yet the quantity of options feels slanted towards you being big :P ❤️ (or roughly just don't break me) 🩷💛 (step on you) 💚 (or vice-versa) 🖤🩶 (platonically)

digitalfox @yip.vulpine.engineer · 18/09/2026

…I didn't actually talk much about tracking, or haptics-in-trackers! Others may have voluntold that information for me though x3

020

digitalfox @yip.vulpine.engineer · 17/09/2026

Huzzah, finally! Fingers crossed you're pretty early in the queue. I've heard some suggest it might have been difficulties with getting approval to send prerelease hardware internationally, but they should've at least explained this if it was the case…

UML but with more ambiguity! Unless those specs are written in great detail - thinking of url.spec.whatwg.org …

Oof. Well, knowing is the first part, or so folks say, and.. honestly I'm not sure what comes next ^^ Fingers crossed there's something to glean from the results, and regardless I'm glad you're still here.

digitalfox @yip.vulpine.engineer · 17/09/2026

All look wonderful, buuuut.. maybe #2? Looks like the most fully relaxed position… (Though that's a very distractingly-placed paw in #1.)

010

digitalfox @yip.vulpine.engineer · 17/09/2026

Ah, so that was one olive-a good deal

Technically still possible to sideload - immediately with ADB, or after a one-time 24 hour wait if you don't have another device (phone, laptop) to run ADB. I'm still frustrated by Google's decision, but it's still not (yet) as locked down as iOS. I'm gonna keep running LineageOS as long as I can.

I'll be curious how GrapheneOS's partnership with Motorola goes, they plan to launch a flagship device in 2027. (I've heard that GrapheneOS isn't immune to the LLM hype, but I haven't found any sources)
