On a KOG note, very excited. Can’t say much but I think ep 2’s gonna be a good litmus test of who will actually be into this show. So fucking proud of the team. No, I can’t say anything about dates. Time to drop offline again. 🏃‍♀️

I also did a couple more featuring Glandus + Epiderm uniforms but ran outta time to color em oop. Drawing the books were fun though.

The Witch Hat Atelier anime is goooorgeous and I will praise Shirahama as a master of her craft till I die. But I only discovered it when s3 of TOH was being made. Any similarities are entirely coincidental! If you want to read something that inspired me for TOH, China Mieville’s Bas Lag series!

In my bimonthly allowance of a free morning I think about strange, angry old women that go around trying to fix things with giant sewing needles and sutures.

A tall, older woman with sun-damaged skin, gray hair, holding a giant bleeding suture needle. She's got a cool vest and cross-body bag that I wish I could pull off, too.

A message for my fans in Latin America. (plain text is in the image alt-text if you need it for translation.)

Recently, Fangamer asked me to make a post in Japanese regarding the translation of OFF.
Well...in the responses to that post, I noticed some frustration from Latin American fans. Let
me address a few of those issues now.

1. There is an officially licensed UNDERTALE concert series that unfortunately has no shows
planned in Latin America. I did retweet its schedule on request, but I have hardly any
involvement with the concert series and no input on where they perform. But, the organizers have heard the enthusiasm from Latin America, and I personally think it would be great to
have performances there. I hope it works out!

2. Fangamer’s shipping costs to Latin America are prohibitively expensive. As just one of
Fangamer’s clients, I am aware of this problem and I’ve asked them about possible solutions
before. I think it would be amazing if they could find affordable shipping to Latin America (and
other affected regions), but they have expressed that it’s a huge logistical hurdle. The other
shipping methods they’ve tried had a lost package rate of over 50%…

Still, I think Fangamer is interested in finding solutions, so I hope that we can figure out some way to get affordable merch to Latin American fans. Fangamer is very easy to work with and
truly passionate about the things they make. I really trust them and would prefer to collaborate
exclusively with them on merch.

3. Unfortunately, there are no translations for UNDERTALE into other languages besides
Japanese. That includes Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, but also every other language –
Chinese, Korean, Russian, French, German, Italian, and more.

I know it sucks that there are no other official translations for UNDERTALE. But I want to
make it clear that this isn’t because I have a grudge against other countries. It’s because, if I
release something official, I want it to match my vision. I was only able to do this for the
Japanese version because I know Japanese myself, and I worked very closely with our
brilliant translator to thoroughly check the text. I am not against official translations for other languages if we could make it work the same way… In the past I have looked into various options with my publisher, 8-4, but nothing has come of that yet. Maybe I should try a different approach.

I’m very happy that there are unofficial translations on PC. Considering I don’t understand
other languages, letting fans interpret the game without the burden of being “officially” perfect is amazingly helpful.

As for DELTARUNE, it’s just not feasible from a development standpoint to support other
languages right now, since it would make the game take longer to come out...
---
I’m honored to have many fans across the world, and of course that means Latin America too.
I don’t want anyone to feel left out. I’m sorry if my silence made me seem like I was ignoring
anyone.

KOG IS GREENLIT! Since this was shown in the trailer/ad for the artbook it felt safe to share. This was drawn in '24, early dev, the first time it really felt me, Zach, and JBO understood Frankie, Andi, and the show's tone. I still look at this drawing and think, oh yeah. That's #knightsofguinevere.

An early development digital drawing in color depicting Frankie and Andi, covered in android blood, in front of an early concept for the Repair Halo which had lots more details. An android (that was not necessarily Gwen at the time) lays between them, mid operation.

It’s still Pride Month in the Boiling Isles 🌈 (Been so fixated on drawing Pokémon boyfriends I almost forgot I’m a lesbian LOL) I still cannot believe I had the chance to work on such an incredibly special show 🥹 Some personal rambles on the next slide

Timeskip Amity and Luz from The Owl House, smiling nose to nose and holding a rainbow pride flag around their shoulders. Amity is wearing a black crop top that reads Be Gay, Do Witchcraft. Luz’s purple baseball tee reads: Us Weirdos have to stick Together — the font colored like several different pride flags. Her white shoes have writing on them including Pride was a Riot, Stomp out Fascism, We are all Immigrants, and Trans rights are human rights. She’s also wearing a nonbinary bracelet, a fanny pack with a Dominican Republic pride flag, a bi pin, and a bi colored visor. Amity has rainbow colored hair, a lesbian flag in her pocket, pink heart eye sunglasses, and a trans pin that says “protect trans kids” They’re surrounded by colorful confetti and glitter.

Text:

I still cannot believe I got the chance to work on such an incredibly special show 🥹 Lemme rant for a sec:

There’s so much more to The Owl House than just Lumity, but watching these girlfriends fall in love in canon really touched my life and the lives of so many queer kids around the world. I was so honored to play a small part in Luz’s coming out story and her relationship with Amity.

I’ve visited middle schools, high schools, and colleges around the US where I spoke to classrooms about my job on TOH, and so many kids told me how much this show meant to them as young queers, artists, and neurodivergent weirdos. We need to be supporting those kids and their futures now more than ever.

Nobody can diminish your light 🌈

Queer rights are human rights. Joy and Pride is resistance. Expression and Nonconformity are threats to power. So is Humor, and Art, and Love, and Community— all precious as they are vital, especially in times like these.

Trans rights are human rights— the right to privacy, autonomy, and deciding what’s best for our bodies is between us and our doctors, not our governments. Anti-trans laws reflect fascist ideals, the lavender scare, and racist segregation throughout history.

Immigrant Rights are human rights— the rights to travel, seek asylum, build a life for yourself, share your culture with others. Immigrants are a disruption to an ethnostate.

Heroes and Villains from The Owl House, though fictional, represent and embody these very real concepts from our world. And that’s just part of the reason why this show genuinely resonates with me and so many people.

Ok enough rambling from me, I hope you enjoy the art and please stay safe out there ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🩷
